OutCast - The Ultimate Outdoor Wireless Speaker @ TestFreaks.com

November 26th, 2008 by Kristofer

Title: OutCast - The Ultimate Outdoor Wireless Speaker @ TestFreaks.com

Review Link: http://www.testfreaks.com/blog/review/outcast-the-ultimate-outdoor-wireless-speaker/

Review Snipit:
“Today I’ve got an unusual product for review it’s a speaker, but not in the traditional way, this thing can be set on fire and even run through a carwash and still work great. The product is the OutCast from SoundCast Systems and it’s a wireless portable speaker system that comes with a transmitter called the iCast with a built in iPod dock. One nice thing though is that is can accept most any audio source, at the transmitter or at the OutCast unit itself. It is a bit on the large side, in both price and weight, but overall it’s a very unique product that works perfectly, sounds excellent and is just really cool… “

Bowers & Wilkins Zeppelin Speakers for iPod Reviewed @ TheTechLounge

October 23rd, 2008 by Kristofer

Title: Bowers & Wilkins Zeppelin Speakers for iPod Reviewed @ TheTechLounge Quote: “B&W has turned high-fidelity audio into an art over the last 40 years, creating what many regard as the best speakers money can buy. Abbey Road Studios, one of the most famous audio production venues in the world, has used 800-series B&W speakers as monitors in all of their control rooms since early on in the 80’s. Some of the greatest music artists in the world have mixed their albums through these speakers. With the Zeppelin, B&W has made its first foray into iPod territory. Its pedigree alone should raise some enthusiastic eyebrows, but we’re going to take a look – and a listen – to see if the Zeppelin lives up to the expectations laid before it.” Article URL: http://www.thetechlounge.com/article/584/Bowers-Wilkins-Zeppelin-Speakers-for-iPod/

Ultimate Ears Super.Fi 4 Sound Isolating Earphones Reviewed @ TheTechLounge

September 30th, 2008 by Kristofer

Title:

Ultimate Ears Super.Fi 4 Sound Isolating Earphones Reviewed @ TheTechLounge
Quote:
“The super.fi 4’s really ended up winning me over because the whole package was spot on for what I look for in a set of headphones.  Ultimate Ears nailed the styling for me with an attractive, minimalist design.  Comfort is paramount for anyone looking to put some serious hours into his or her phones, and there’s definitely a bunch of upside to be found with this set.  I loved the soft, supple ear tips, and the low weight encouraged me to pass my Shures on to a new owner.  The build quality felt solid throughout, and you get a two-year warranty from Ultimate Ears. The sound quality is very well rounded, easily equaling other phones of this level that I have had experience with.  I don’t mind dealing with the few issues I found because the super.fi 4’s have so much going for them.  Ultimate Ears also offers an iPhone-friendly set with an inline mic and control button for about $20 more, which may deal with the cable length issue for some.”

Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Pro @ TechSpot

September 15th, 2008 by Kristofer

Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Pro @ TechSpot
http://www.techspot.com/review/115-creative-xfi-titanium-fatal1ty/

Creative has been a leader in the PC audio market for as long as I can remember. In fact, the first Sound Blaster card hit the market almost 20 years ago, which can be considered an eternity in “computer years”. During this time, Creative has launched about a dozen major soundcards, with their latest outgoing product being the Sound Blaster X-Fi series, which replaced the popular Audigy line a few years ago.

The X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Pro that we are testing today is Creative’s latest offering in the series aimed at audio enthusiasts and especially gamers, making use of a slightly modified chip called EMU20K2 that adds native PCI Express support among a number of improvements and fixes over the previous generation of cards.

Turtle Beach EarForce X4 XBOX 360 Wireless Headset Reviewed @ TheTechLounge

September 11th, 2008 by Kristofer

Title:
Turtle Beach EarForce X4 XBOX 360 Wireless Headset Reviewed @ TheTechLounge

Quote:
“Turtle Beach’s X4 wireless gaming headset is a great way to tap the enormous console market.  Wireless headset?  Playing video games in the living room at night without bothering anyone?  Sign me up! Wirelessness isn’t the best thing for audiophiles, but gamers [and perhaps more importantly, the people around them] are willing to sacrifice some things for a little convenience.  Honestly, what’s a little signal noise against a backdrop of orchestral gunfire.  On top of that, the competition is a little weak.  The mic that comes with the 360 is uncomfortable, ugly, and above all, it isn’t a headset.  It’s got one Walkman-class scratchy plastic earphone with limited flexibility and added discomfort to make you avoid online gaming.  Turtle Beach, with all their experience and wisdom, is right to make a quality headset that not only slides right into place with a 360, but also any other analog input you care to sport around your ears.  This isn’t their first set of 360 cans, so the X4s have big shoes to fill.”

August 23rd, 2008 by Kristofer

Article Name: Razer Piranha Gaming Headset Review @ Tweaknews.net
Article Url: http://www.tweaknews.net/reviews/razer_piranha_gaming_headset_review/

Article Snippet:

“Everyone that is a gamer knows that having the freedom to game whenever you want is severely limited to who you are living with or next to. Other than some special situations, both will actively object to you disemboweling your adversary with a gattlin gun at 3am in the morning with you 5.1 speaker system at gaming volume. Because of that simple problem, gamers rely on a good set of gaming headphones to span those times where our gaming audio is not appreciated by others.”

Audio-Technica ATH-CK7 Canal Headphones Reviewed @ TheTechLounge

August 15th, 2008 by Kristofer

Title:
Audio-Technica ATH-CK7 Canal Headphones Reviewed @ TheTechLounge

Quote:
“So, are they truly studio-quality?  Eh, if you had a studio you wouldn’t put up with the sweepingly uneven amplification.  You can compensate for it, and get some very impressive sound from these ATH-CK7s–rolls off the tongue, don’t it?–but then they’re going to be tied to whatever device you’ve got them plugged into.  I can’t use these with both my media player and my PC, because once I switch from my PC speakers, I have to reset my equalizer.  And they would be a total waste if my media player didn’t have a multi-band, customizable equalizer.  There’s no preset in the world that can correct for these babies.”
