Lian Li Ps-a750gb Powersupply Review:

Link: http://www.rbmods.com/Articles/LianLi/Ps-a750gb/1.php

Quote: Now if I asked you guys what Lian Li is most famous for you would probably say aluminum cases which is true; but Lian Li have also been making high quality power supplies for quite some time. Todays test victim is a PS-a750gb PSU from them that we are going to test vs a few high performing units that we have reviewed in the past. This unit though has some nice features like 120 mm fan with smart fan control, PCI-E connectors with bead core protection etc.

Thermaltake Toughpower 1000Watt Power Supply Review @ Ninjalane

September 23rd, 2008 by Kristofer

Ninjalane has just posted their review of the monster PSU from Thermaltake the Toughpower 1000w.

Subject: Thermaltake Toughpower 1000Watt Power Supply Review @ Ninjalane
URL: http://www.ninjalane.com/display.aspx?docname=toughpower1k

Quote: A few short years ago a 500 watt power supply was considered more than you will ever need. However as technology advances so does the power requirements. With today’s Quad core processors, dual and quad graphics cards and of course the array of water pumps, fans and drives, 500 watts just won’t do.

Thermaltake Toughpower 1200W PSU Review @ Rbmods

September 8th, 2008 by Kristofer

Thermaltake Toughpower 1200W PSU Review:

Link: http://www.rbmods.com/Articles/Thermaltake/Toughpower_1200w/1.php

Quote: It’s time to take a look at a 1200W PSU from Thermaltake, we are going to look at their biggest PSU from the Toughpower series. This PSU has four 12V rails from 20A and up so there is alot of power to be used, the question is how stable all the rails are and how loud this thing actually will be? I can only imagine how hot this thing actually will be after awhile of gaming or using the computer at load.

done a great job. The PowerBird series combines the best of performance,
features, and of course, affordability. For the $200 dollar range, Topower
has its audience sorted out. While the PowerBird isn’t a value oriented
power supply, for the price, it’s a solid contender in the high end power
supply market.

BFG Tech LS-680 Power Supply Review @ OCIA.net

August 25th, 2008 by Kristofer

OCIA.net has posted their review of the BFG Tech LS-680 Power Supply.  Below is a direct quote from the review:
BFG Tech is one of those companies you expect quality products from, no matter what you’re buying. While most famous for their graphics cards, they make a range of products, including motherboards, accessories, and power supplies. BFG has a few lines of power supplies, from modular to energy efficient, and has recently started advertising their 550W and 680W LS power supplies. A few weeks ago, our very own Zahn had a look at the 550W version and was generally impressed with the quality and performance versus the price. Today, I’m going to have a look at the 680W version to see if it’s true to their slogan, “efficiency and performance meets affordability.”

Cooler Master UCP 700W Power Supply

August 22nd, 2008 by Kristofer

NEW CONTENT (Casing & Cooling) - Cooler Master UCP 700W Power Supply

QUOTE: “For many years, the folks at Cooler Master have been in the business of creating aftermarket products for the DIY (Do It Yourself) crowd. Having begun as an OEM cooling manufacturer, they realized that more and more of us were very interested in making our own systems. After all, we can build to suit our own needs and save some money in the process.

More recently, they have delved into the performance segment of the market with offerings of power supplies, cooling and enclosures. Today’s article will be covering one of their newer releases, the UCP series of power supply. UCP is an acronym for Ultimate Circuit Protection and the concept is to produce a power supply designed to meet the demands of the enthusiast crowd while offering an efficient design that will last for years to come.”

Kingwin Mach 1 900Watt Power Supply Review

August 21st, 2008 by Kristofer

Power supplies are the heart of any system, just like our hearts the power supply provides power to the PC system, and without a solid stable power supply your system can fail. There are many aspects or features to PSUs as well, some come with your standard hard wired cable layout while other are modular allowing the end user to pick and choose which connections they need which is nice when you want or need the power but don’t need all of the included connections hanging around.

Up on the review block today is the
Mach 1
900Watt Power Supply from
Kingwin that not only looks great, but features an interesting modular cabling system that securely locks the cables into the PSU to insure they will not come loose. During my time with the Mach 1 I found it to be a very quiet and exceptionally stable power supply that will meet or exceed the demands of most high end system on the market today.

Seasonic M12 700 Watt Power Supply Review

August 13th, 2008 by Kristofer

http://lanoc.org/reviews/?p=549
One of the most important PC components is the power supply. Without a good quality power supply putting out enough clean power to power your high end video card and quad core CPU, you would be stuck with a pile of useless parts. Today’s power supply’s have a lot of shoes to fill. They must put out enough power to meet any demand you will be able to throw at it, now and with future upgrades. All of the power must be clean and stable power, you wouldn’t want something to fry because you didn’t give it clean enough power. Then most recently people have been concerned about noise and aesthetics, the fans on power supply’s keep getting larger and quieter and you see things like windows and racing stripes on “gaming” power supply’s. This has also lead to the popularity or modular cabling, to me one of the best ideas to come to power supplies in years! Seasonic, one of our lans sponsors has provided us with their M12 700 watt power supply to check out.

Quote: After you have reviewed enough power supplies you can begin to
tell how well it will perform longer before you ever hook it up to a
system. For example if the unit is to light it is a sure bet that
quality components were not used or small heatsinks we used instead
of large one. Yes there are exceptions so power supply makers don’t
email me and complain. When we first laid our hands on In Wins new
1200 watt power supply we knew that it had alot going it. Come check
our review and see what we are talking about.

NZXT Performance Power 800w PSU Review @ OCIA.net

August 4th, 2008 by Kristofer

OCIA.net has posted their review of the NZXT Performance Power 800w PSU.  Below is a direct quote from the review:
A company “built on gamers’ dreams,” NZXT has since expanded upon their “Crafted Series” cases, into a line of more modest, yet still stylish, “Classic Series” cases, and even two lines of power supplies. They have, for the most part, enjoyed great success with all of their products, which are known for being high quality despite having a lower than usual cost. Today we have for review the NZXT Performance Power 800W power supply, one whose launch was abnormally silent and hasn’t received much attention.

Thermaltake Toughpower Cable Management 650W (Report) @ APH Networks

August 1st, 2008 by Kristofer

* Title: Thermaltake Toughpower Cable Management 650W (Report) @ APH Networks
* Description: Wow, time sure flies by. Precisely two months ago, I was still
sitting in a classroom, scribbling down notes and preparing for exams. Then
there’s the excitement of the stuff I have planned for the summer after
exams. And of course, I was often found at various car dealerships checking
out the latest releases (And of course test driving, which is just my excuse
to redline cars) — that aside, what I’m talking about is that I have this
Thermaltake Toughpower Cable Management 650W modular power supply sitting
here at APH Networks for the last two months before I even started this
report. Historically, I haven’t been a big fan of Thermaltake power supplies.
I owned quite a few of their cases, which were excellent. But the power
supplies, at least back in the days, were low in price but not really the
‘tier 1′ performance that I’d come to expect. Generally speaking, this power
supply didn’t capture much of my attention either due to my personal
impression. When I finally decided to open it and check what was inside over
a month later, and did some research online, it seemed to me that the
Toughpower Cable Management 650W offered incredible performance across the
board. Was I surprised? Well, yes I was. Let’s crack open this power supply
and take a look at the physical build of this Channel Well Technology built
unit in our report today.

Thermaltake Thoughpower 1500 W Power Supply @ Hardware Secrets

July 31st, 2008 by Kristofer

Title: Thermaltake Thoughpower 1500 W Power Supply
Link: http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/594
Category: First Look

Summary:
Thermaltake Thoughpower 1500 W is probably the most powerful PC power supply in the world – so powerful that it can’t be sold in the USA. We took an in-depth look on this monster.

Here is a snippet:
“Thermaltake Thoughpower 1500 W is probably the most power PC power supply in the world – so powerful that it can’t be sold in the USA, as it is over the maximum allowed power for household appliances set by the Underwriter Laboratories (UL) – which is 1,300 W, by the way. Because of that, this model can only be found in Europe. The architecture used is really interesting: this power supply is in fact two completely independent 750 W power supplies inside the same housing. Besides its monstrous power capability – which the manufacturer says can be delivered at 50º C with a peak power of 1,600 W –, Thoughpower 1500 W has a modular cabling system with a total of eight power connectors for video cards and a 140-mm fan. In this article we will completely dissect this monster.”

NEW CONTENT (Casing & Cooling) - Rosewill RX630-S-B Xtreme 630W PSU

QUOTE: “Rosewill has long had a reputation of providing a quality product for an affordable price. With that theme in mind, these guys have come up with a line of power supplies aimed at the enthusiast market. They still look at providing an affordable power solution, but this time around they have added features to keep those with extreme power needs happy.

The Xtreme series of power supplies weigh in at models from 630 watts to 850 watts. Today we will take a look at the little guy in the lineup, the 630 watt model to see what it can do with a reasonably intense system.
