Disney and NASA are hosting a screening of the new movie WALL-E at the Newseum in Washington tonight at 6:30 p.m. EDT. Opening remarks will be made by representatives from NASA, Disney and the Newseum.
NASA and Disney have a Space Act Agreement for a series of educational and public outreach activities related to Disney-Pixar’s new movie, WALL-E, opening in theaters nationwide on June 27, 2008.
The collaboration highlights the similarities between the movie’s storyline and NASA’s real-life work in robot technology, propulsion systems and astrophysics. Disney-Pixar’s WALL-E is set 700 years in the future. The film’s main character is the only rover-robot left on Earth. He meets a new robot named Eve, and together they take a journey through the universe.

“Fool’s Gold was a pleasant surprise. There, I said it. I had to do some soul searching and life evaluating to write this review. That’s what this movie did for me. Well, not the movie itself, it’s not THAT kind of good. It’s fun good. It’s entertaining good. It’s good enough to make me wonder if a fluffy romantic comedy flick now and then wouldn’t be such a drain of my precious time. The conclusion, Fool’s Gold didn’t make me want to go find a mad scientist, invent a time machine, and go get those 2 hours of my life back, no. “This DVD is a collection of two separate features that were basically around 40 minutes in length on their own. When added together, they make a respectable 113 minutes. These two features were created in the early 1940’s, and were wildly popular in their time, but they do feel dated. They are very interesting to watch, if for no more than to see the progression that has occurred since then in terms of technology. It is hard not to compare the shorts to modern animated films, but it is neat to see the Disney characters in their prime.”
