Nova Microtech Mousepad Review @ OCModShop

October 26th, 2008 by Kristofer

How smooth does your mouse move? Today, I get the pleasure of checking out the Nova MicroTech gaming mousepad. Compared to some of Nova’s other mousepads, the MicroTech is a bit smaller than others. For that reason, I decided to check this one out using my laptop and wireless mouse.
As I mentioned in my previous Nova review, their mousepads have the uncanny ability to stick to anything but water, and even that is negotiable. The MicroTech is no different. Sitting in my living room, I stuck the pad to my coffee table beside my laptop. It’s hard to turn away when Sci Fi is doing their 31 Day of Halloween. So with Warwick Davis jabbering about gold in the background, I proceeded to check out the pad.

Evo-G MP1 Mousepad Review

September 13th, 2008 by Kristofer

Evo-G MP1 Mousepad Review @ DragonSteelMods

Mousepads have evolved quite a bit from the little both things that come for free with many systems, sure they’re nice for the average user, but when you’ve got a specialized, expensive gaming mouse those little freebie pads just don’t cut it.

On the review block today I’ve got the Evo-G MP1 mousepad and it’s a hybrid type of pad that offers the best of both worlds basically, a hard surface type pad that is on top of a soft, padded backing. The pad can be rolled if need be and since it’s soft has a bit of give to it that makes it all that more comfortable. From my time with the MP1, I’ve found it to be a great pad overall, no matter what you’re doing, and it works very well with either laser or optical mice.

So continue on to check out the MP1 from Evo-G…

Razer Destructor Mouse Pad Review @ Hardware Secrets

Category: Reviews

Summary:
We tested the newest gaming mouse pad from Razer, Destructor.

Here is a snippet:
“People invest a lot of money on their gaming setup – fast Internet connection, quick response monitor, high fidelity headset, gaming grade keyboard and mouse – but often overlook a prosaic peripheral: the mouse pad. Sure, top of the line gaming mice will work even on top of your leg but their performance will lack without the proper surface. Razer, a company known for their gaming peripherals like the Piranha headset (that we already tested), released the Destructor, their new gaming grade mouse pad model. He was our trusty brother in arms on the digital battlefields for the last weeks. Let’s proceed to our test.”

The Perfect Razer Desktop

June 27th, 2008 by Kristofer

NEW CONTENT (Miscellaneous) - The Perfect Razer Desktop

QUOTE: “With the Razer Lycosa Keyboard, Lachesis Mouse and Destructor Gaming Surface, we have a serious gaming setup and a sweet looking desktop.

Again Razer does not disappoint on the uber-elitist front by allowing you to tweak every aspect of the mouse’s performance, and even to what sensitivity levels you can hot swap to. There is even axis specific sensitivity adjustment; this is clearly top-end stuff.”

Playit3D: Roccat Sense Mouse Mat Review

June 19th, 2008 by Kristofer

Playit3D Review: Roccat Sense Mouse Mat Review

“Roccat are a European based gaming company which provide lush and stylish gaming peripherals.  Ranging from mouse mats, mice and of course keyboards.  We first met Roccat at Ceebit 2008 with their impressive stand.  But today we have something special.  Roccat have been kind enough to send us a review sample of their Roccat Sense mouse mat which we previewed at Ceebit.  So now we have actually had the time to give this bad boy a test to see how well it fares in the massive market of today’s gaming mouse mats.

Sense comes packaged in a tall tube like container which reminds me of a tennis ball container.  It’s got an expensive feel to it all.  The SENSE mouse mat is approximately 400 x 280mm which is quite large compared to some other standard mats.  So those of you with small desks may find it a bit of a job fitting it in.  On one side you have an impressive design, you can one of two designs.  On the reverse side of the mouse mat is layered rubber which completely halts any movement on the desk.  It’s quite clever because no one likes a mouse mat that slides around on your desk! ”

Tech- Reviews.co.uk has just submitted another review:

Title: XtracPads Fat Mat Review @ Tech-Reviews.co.uk

Briefing: XTracPads have created some pretty beastly mouse pads in the past. Notably among them, their soft surface pads have got some pretty serious attension and have proved to perform very well in many reviews. Today we have the XTracPads Fat Mat for review, an incredibly thick mouse mat which apparently offers comfort and good gaming performance. Well…lets see if any of this is true in Tech-Reviews.co.uk XtracPads Fat Mat Review.

XtracPads Fat Mat - BHFO

April 18th, 2008 by Kristofer

BHFO.org Press Release

Summary:

XtracPads - Fat Mat:

BHFO is reviewing the Fat Mat from PCXmods today. The American company has a line of input surfaces called XtracPads and has been successful through word of mouth for several years. The Fat Mat model is one of their newest editions specifically designed for the professional gamer. The pad has the large surface and padding asked for most by gaming consumers. Whether or not the pad deserves its 25-30 USD price tag is the question we set out to answer.

Part of the article:

“Besides the large surface area, the accuracy of the pad lends to desktop efficiency and productivity. Switching between a normal pad and the Fat Mat noticeably decreases unintentional mouse clicks. Hence, the user spends less time backing up and clicking the intended location. Confidence also increases in the desktop environment, which makes click paths take less time as menu operations are committed to muscle memory.

The consistent Nanofiber allows us to select the exact pixel we want while editing images, even at higher sensitivities where input “jitter” from a typical surface makes this all but impossible. Audio and video editing is convenient as well because of the same ability to...”~Chris Hunter

Razer Destructor Gaming Mat Review @ OCIA.net

April 7th, 2008 by Kristofer

OCIA.net has posted their review of the Razer Destructor Gaming Mat.  Below is a direct quote from the review:

In the previous Razer review, we took a look (and listen) at the new Piranha gaming communicator. The second item they sent over for review is their Destructor gaming mat. More than just your average mouse pad, Razer says their Destructor mat has a proprietary gunmetal coating which yields a highly reactive surface. The result is superior tactility, improved responsiveness and enhanced tracking.

Razer Destructor review @ DVHardware

March 29th, 2008 by Kristofer

DV Hardware has published a review of the Razer Destructor gaming mousepad:

Razer Destructor review

With their new Destructor mousepad Razer continues its tradition of naming products after animals. Their mice are named after dangerous snakes, their keyboards after spiders and this new gaming mousepad is named after the Gigantiops Destructor ant. I’ve never heard about this creature but a quick search on Google learned me it’s a tropical ant with large eyes that can be found in South-America.

SteelSeries SX Gaming Mousepad Review

March 27th, 2008 by Kristofer

SteelSeries is known worldwide for their excellent products, in quality and performance you’ll be hard pressed to find a better product to suit your needs. SteelSeries is on the cutting edge of the gaming industry when it comes to accessories putting in countless hours in testing and research to come up with products that are truly the best out there.

Today for review I’ve got the SteelSeries SX Gaming Mousepad, and to quote SteelSeries: “It is by far the most expensive mousepad we have ever produced, both in terms of materials, labor, quality control and the actual manufacturing process required to produce SteelSeries SX.” For cost yes, it is an expensive mousepad, but in the end it is well worth it if you are truly serious about gaming, you can see and feel the quality of this mousepad as soon as you unpack it.

This is the first aluminum mousepad that I have ever owned or reviewed so I was a bit excited about it honestly, I like to try new things, and I was curious about how an aluminum mousepad would perform. The SX performed flawlessly, for the most part, I did run into one small problem though…

SteelSeries SP Mousing Surface @ APH Networks

March 27th, 2008 by Kristofer

* Title: SteelSeries SP Mousing Surface @ APH Networks

* Description: From manufacturing gaming surfaces to headphones, keyboards to selling security software, SteelSeries is responsible for contributing to what they call “professional gaming gear”. With the hobby of gaming evolving into a profession, the demand for mousing surfaces has never been stronger. People from all ages, backgrounds, and cultures meet online to duke it out - whether it be a game like World of Warcraft, or Counter-Strike: Source. As a once-hardcore gamer - not necessarily a good one, but an addicted one, I know how it felt like to be on top - or somewhat near there, anyway. When I was given such a product to review, I threw my discipline out the door and reinstalled Counter-Strike: Source, and thus decided it was the best choice in order to give us an overall look at the SteelSeries SP. I know that mousepads are beneficial in everyday use as well, but here’s an excuse I can’t let go.

Razer Destructor Mousepad Review @ [OC]ModShop

March 27th, 2008 by Kristofer

Razer has themed their products after the world’s deadliest snakes, fish, and spiders… so what deadly animal can they slap on their latest mousepad? An ant? I’d love to be in the boardroom when the Marketing department was meeting about this one. Not everyone watches the Discovery channel, so most civilized people haven’t witnessed how a swarm of these insect can strip a small animal in mere minutes.

If ants really were the icon of Destruction then they’d be used as a metaphor at LAN parties much more often. I can hear the trash talk now…. “Yeah, buddy, I’m gonna dominate you like an ant on your backside. I’m gonna bite your ass, and you’ll have mild discomfort and probably have some swelling and skin discoloration. You’ll have to go to the doctor for some topical cream, boi…”

Regardless of the Destructor’s misguided animal icon, it is a high-quality mousepad, designed to register precise movement with today’s optical and laser mice, and do it without slowing down the gamer.

Razer Destructor Gaming Surface Review @ Virtual-Hideout

February 15th, 2008 by Kristofer

Title: Razer Destructor Gaming Surface Review @ Virtual-Hideout

Review link: http://www.virtual-hideout.net/reviews/Razer_Destructor/index.shtml

Quote: “The Destructor’s surface is made with a proprietary “gunmetal” coating which gives it the exceptional reactive surface. In layman’s terms, that means the surface helps laser type mice respond easier than compared to something like the Everglide series. The gunmetal coating appears to be pretty resilient against even against minor abuse such as when you get pwned in game and start slapping the pad or banging your mouse against it. You know who you are out there…”
