ASUS Eee PC 1000H 160GB Netbook @ Benchmark Reviews

November 5th, 2008 by Kristofer

TITLE: ASUS Eee PC 1000H 160GB Netbook @ Benchmark Reviews

DESCRIPTION: Just over a year ago, Asus launched its Eee PC series of notebooks, prompting quick competition and innovation throughout the market. Today Benchmark Reviews looks at one of the newest additions to the Eee family, the Eee PC 1000H 160GB. Like the Eee PC 900 series, the 1000H is based on the Intel Atom platform, and features the Atom N270 processor. However, instead of an 8.9″, the 1000H boasts a 10.2″ screen as well as a 160GB hard drive. Perhaps the biggest improvement, though, is the use of a 6-cell battery. In this review, we’ll take a closer at the Asus Eee 1000H netbook and find out how it compares to more conventional laptops.

News - Evercool Royal Notebook Cooling Pad at Overclockers Online

October 6th, 2008 by Kristofer

Title: Evercool Royal Notebook Cooling Pad at Overclockers Online
Link: http://www.overclockersonline.net/?page=articles&num=2041
Quote: Though the tests were inconclusive, I really like laptop coolers
in general and the Evercool Royal is no exception. It is well-designed
and the “royal” theme is very attractive. The raised back is
ergonomically sound and is a feature my wrists welcome. Though its
effectiveness at cooling your laptop’s components is dubious, it does
make the surface cooler which equates to a more comfortable experience
if you use your laptop on your lap.

“Computers can be used from many reasons but most recent are usage for quite elementary things. For all users with basic needs, computer purchasing can be a true nightmare. Acer Company tried to help you by launching series of cheaper models…”

HP 530 Notebook @ InsideHW

September 20th, 2008 by Kristofer

InsideHW.com has posted review for Cooler HP 530 Notebook. You can read a clip from review:

“This HP notebook is not new. To be honest it is more than one year old model. So why are we talking about this “old” model? Well there is one good reason: price tag (430€)! This is one of the cheapest models (or maybe THE cheapest) that we found so far that is powered by thoroughbred Core 2 Duo CPU. Don’t forget that this model can be found in more than few variations but model that we tested named FH542AA had Core 2 Duo T5200 CPU inside…”

CPU3D Review: MSI Wind U100 Netbook

September 20th, 2008 by Kristofer

“I do like the MSI Wind. It’s very neat and tidy … works great and feels compact and lightweight. I would have prefered if it had a 6-Cell battery, but then that would have increased the costs. All-in-all, I think MSI have done a good job with the Wind … but a drop a price would have made it a perfect buy.”

NZXT Cryo LX Notebook Cooler Review

September 19th, 2008 by Kristofer

I4U NEWS published a review of the NZXT Cryo LX Notebook Cooler.

Quote from the review:
“Cooling a notebook computer can be a pain, especially if you use a large gaming machine that produces lots of heat. NZXT has a notebook stand called the Cryo LX that is up to the task.
Many notebooks run much hotter than notebook users would prefer. It can also literally be a pain in the neck to work on a notebook for extended periods thanks to having to look down at the screen. NZXT has a product called the Cryo LX that can pull double duty by cooling the notebook and raising the screen to more comfortable levels.”

Acer Aspire One @ InsideHW

September 8th, 2008 by Kristofer

InsideHW.com has posted review for Acer Aspire One Netbook. You can read a clip from review:

“On fast-growing market of small portable computers another “big player” put itself into play in the struggle for leadership. Acer’s trump card is Aspire One model A110-Ab. Term netbook came out as result of need for making boundary between these little guys and classic notebooks. Therefore, the most precise name of tested device should be Acer Aspire One A110-Ab Netbook (A110-Ab is just a model identification for certain region). As people from Acer are aware of fact that they are a little bit late with launching of this kind of device on market, they tried different approach – attractive price and different design solutions from competitions…”

We will introduce you with all novelties through testing of model Toshiba Satellite L300-11G. L series didn’t experience that much cosmetic changes like new A and P series did. LapLogic W800 Aerogel Extreme @ APH Networks

July 19th, 2008 by Kristofer

* Title: LapLogic W800 Aerogel Extreme @ APH Networks

* Description: When I go shopping for a digital audio player — in which the last time I did so was January 2007 — the brands that come to mind initially are only a handful. Although I lately turned to listening to music in my car while driving, I still enjoy using one once in a while just in case I needed to take the bus. Not to mention that my car has an audio input that I can use my digital audio player anyways. That said, the digital audio player brands that really come to my mind initially are nothing much more than the occasional Apple and Creative. I have a Creative Zen Vision:M that I purchased back then, which is an excellent player that I still enjoy very much to this day. On the other hand, when Nextar contacted me and introduced me to their T30 4GB digital media player, it really brought about my interest. I have to admit I have never heard of them before, but they promised a “sleek and stylish” machine with the T30 that can not only play WMA and MP3 files, but also offers a large 3.5-inch LCD for photos and videos. With 4GB flash storage capacity, it all comes in for only MSRP $99 and available in retail stores such as Wal-Mart. How does that sound to you? We’ll see about that.

Alienware Area-51 m15x gaming notebook review @ TechSpot

http://www.techspot.com/review/106-alienware-area51-m15x-notebook/

For years Alienware has been producing machines that cater to gamers and enthusiasts desires, coupling some of the industry’s most radical designs with top of the line PC hardware. So when Alienware introduced the Area-51 m15x we were obviously keen to check it out.

Our review sample came configured with the new Intel Core 2 Extreme X9000 “Penryn XE” mobile processor and a GeForce 8800M GTX (512MB) graphics card. In short, this is the combination of the fastest possible mobile CPU and the fastest mobile GPU out there. Of course, this won’t come cheap as the retail value of our review sample was $4770.

A-DATA SDHC Class 6 Eee PC Edition 8GB @ APH Networks

July 12th, 2008 by Kristofer

* Description: So here’s the deal, guys: You bought an Asus Eee PC, and you got all the ‘oohs’ and ‘ahhs’ from your non-geek friends who’ve never seen such a thing you ever wanted. What now? One of the biggest ‘problems’ faced by majority of Eee PC users with regards to current generation Asus Eee PCs comes down to storage capacity limitations of the subnotebook’s flash SSD — with configurations starting at 2GB and the higher end (Read: More expensive) models consisting of a 4GB Silicon Motion solid state disk, it’s not hard to imagine that you’re running low on disk space even after an nLited installation of Windows XP, plus a few programs to boot. I have an Asus Eee PC 4G; and with a somewhat slimmed down version of Windows XP Professional, Microsoft Office 2000 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) with minimal features, Foxit Reader, Firefox, Windows Live Messenger, Wavelab Lite — just to name a few off my head — already used up 2.5GB. How about some multimedia files such as music, videos, and pictures? Good luck with that. Well, thankfully, Asus had considered that already with the Eee PC and incorporated a SD/SDHC card slot that’s can accommodate a card fully engaged into the unit with no edges left sticking out. It’s very convenient, and solves the storage problem fairly well. But what card are you going to use? A-DATA presents to you their solution. The A-DATA SDHC Class 6 Eee PC edition cards are designed for this very purpose. My Eee PC is white in color, and these white colored cards will fit the scheme just perfectly — along with a performance of excellent read and write performance, how will it step up to its task? Let’s jump right into our A-DATA SDHC Class 6 Eee PC Edition 8GB flash memory card review.

ASUS Eee PC 900 @ InsideHW

July 10th, 2008 by Kristofer

InsideHW.com has posted review for ASUS Eee PC 900 notebook. You can
read a clip from review:

“Asus with its Eee PC mini notebook concept made a great move,
starting avalanche that still spreads. Almost there is no big manufacturer
of notebooks on market that didn’t launch or announced similar product.
Besides huge popularity that Asus Eee PC 701 got, there were some objections
which dissuaded a lot of potential buyers from shopping. Most criticism was
targeted to its screen size. Even on Eee’s concept promotion (on last year’s
Computex) was announced launch of bigger model, but waiting for it got
prolonged more than we expected. Finally, we are in position to introduce
Asus Eee PC 900 to you…”

no wonder why most of big brands want a piece of cake for themselves. But
Asus got all of them off-guard. Because of that we’ve been waiting rather
