Review Link: http://www.testfreaks.com/blog/review/eagle-neptor-et-npwsp410-wiipal-4-in-1-sports-pack-for-wii/

Review Snipit:
“To add a touch of realism to these great party games, EagleTech has released the WiiPAL 4-in-1 Sports Pack. The WiiPALS Sports Pack features a remote controller handle and Baseball Bat, Tennis Racket and Golf Club attachments. Now swinging for the fences seems more realistic, hitting a backhand is more life like and hooking the golf ball into the water, never more simple. “

Nyko Blu-Wave Remote

October 3rd, 2008 by Kristofer

The PS3 is one of the most powerful gaming consoles ever made. It is also one of the best Blu-Ray players available. In fact, it is the reference player for the folks at Criterion Collection – link. The PS3 is also an upconverting DVD player, making regular DVDs look spectacular on HDTVs. Unfortunately, the PS3 uses Bluetooth instead or IR or RF for controller signal input. This makes using universal controllers such as the Logitech Harmony line impossible. Now if you have a high end home theater set up, then having to use a PS3 Sixaxis or Dual Shock remote as your BluRay remote is rather undesirable. Nyko has released the Blu-Wave remote which is a USB Dongle/IR remote setup which allows the use of a remote control with the PS3 instead of using a game controller. Another additional feature for the Blu-Wave is its compatibility with the Logitech Harmony remote series.

Speed Racer: The Videogame PS2 Review @ TestFreaks.com

October 1st, 2008 by Kristofer

Title: Speed Racer: The Videogame PS2 Review @ TestFreaks.com

Review Link: http://www.testfreaks.com/blog/review/speed-racer-the-videogame-ps2-review/

Review Snipit:
“Most movie based video games really aren’t that good, but Speed Racer The Videogame does a great job at bringing the sights, sounds, action and even the overall feel of the Wachowskis movie to your little screen for you to be part of the action. Speed Racer the Videogame takes place after the events in the movie, so it’s sort of a continuation, but not really, as there’s no real story to the game just racing. ”

Title: Rockband 2 Xbox 360 Review @ TestFreaks.com

Review Link: http://www.testfreaks.com/blog/review/rockband-2-xbox-360-review/

Review Snipit:
“Back in the eighties, I was known to play a mean air guitar to some of hair metal’s finest anthems. Luckily for myself and my loved ones, I gave up my budding air guitar career. Until, now….. Harmonix and EA, the makers of the original Rock Band video game, have unleashed their latest version of the rhythm game genre – Rock Band 2. “

Thrustmaster T-X3 Charge Hub for Sony PS3 Review

September 20th, 2008 by Kristofer

I4U NEWS published a review of the Thrustmaster T-X3 Charge Hub for the Sony PS3.

Quote from the review:
“Today we looking at a PS3 accessory from Thrustmaster called the T-X3 Charge Hub. The hub charges two PS3 controllers and adds needed USB ports to the PS3.
We play lots of PS3 around my house, specifically we really like Rock Band.
The problem when you have all four ports on the PS3 packed with drums, guitars and a mic is that when a normal PS3 controller goes dead, you can’t even connect it to the system to use while it recharges. Thrustmaster has a product that fixes this issue called the T-X3 Charge Hub. Read on for all the details of the T-X3 Charge Hub.”

Nyko Xbox 360 Charge Base Review @ OCModShop

September 20th, 2008 by Kristofer

Any self-respecting Boy Scout knows that one should “Always Be Prepared”, and this holds true when playing video games. It has happened to me on more than one occasion that my controllers run out of battery life way before I am ready to put it down. There are several Xbox 360 battery chargers on the market, and I have tried them all. It’s great that you can charge multiple batteries at one time, but you still have to think about and manage your batteries. Why can’t my controllers automatically charge when I’m not using them?

Nyko has come to the rescue once again with their Xbox 360 Charge Base. Not only will this puppy charge your Xbox 360 controller, but it does so without you having to remove the battery!

Soul Calibur 4 - PS3 Review

August 23rd, 2008 by Kristofer

Soul Calibur 4 - PS3 Review

Date: 08-21-2008 By Chris Gump

Star Wars cast aside, what you have here is a solid fighting game. Usually all a fighting game needs to be good is you, a friend, a couch, and some time to kill. Soul Calibur makes it so you don’t even have to have your friend physically sitting in the same room as you. All you need is the couch and time to kill. Fans of the series will like this game quite a bit, and newcomers can even be brought in by it. Even new players can be taken in by this game, or perhaps a player who hasn’t played any of the recent games of the series. All in all I’d say check this one out, the gameplay can be fun for hours on end, and online adds even more time to that.

Civilization Revolution - PS3 Review

August 9th, 2008 by Kristofer

Civilization Revolution - PS3 Review

Date: 08-08-2008 By Chris Gump

Sid Meier and his team have done an absolutely wonderful job at bringing the PC Civilization we all know and love and put it on the console. Not only that, but we have a 100% new game that is just as fun to play as the originals. There may not be as much depth and micromanagement, but I for one welcome these changes. I’ve always been a fan of the older Civilization games over the newer ones, so watching the series get back to basics is just fine by me. Now, here’s to hoping for a Civilization Revolution 2. Or maybe they’d like to just bring that remake of Colonization over to the consoles, and keep the functionality this game has. Doubtful, but hey, I can wish, right?

Arkanoid DS - DS Review

July 10th, 2008 by Kristofer

Date: 07-10-2008 By Chris Gump

Arkanoid has withstood the test of time, from its first incarnation as Pong, on through its various changes throughout the years. But no matter what skin it wears, or how many bonuses, power ups, and backgrounds it has had, Arkanoid always proves that you don’t have to have a flashy game just to have fun. Sometimes it’s really just as simple as a paddle and a ball.

Battlefield Bad Company - PS3 Review

July 7th, 2008 by Kristofer

Battlefield Bad Company - PS3 Review

Date: 07-06-2008 By Chris Gump

While the Battlefield games have been hit and miss over the years, the choice to take this game into single player is definitely a good move on both EA and Dice’s part. The game has translated well, despite its flaws. This game may not be as wonderful as other sites make it out to be, but it’s still a fun game worthy of a Gamer’s Choice Silver at least a rental before you decide whether or not to buy it. There’s a lot of fun to be had on this disc, although a standard Battlefield style conquest mode would have made Bad Company truly worth the price asked.

Lego Indiana Jones - PSP Review

Date: 07-03-2008 Written By Vlad Mihaiescu

I  am not going to waste your time with an elaborate conclusion, but I am going to formulate this conclusion with the aid of two questions.

One - do you like Lego? Two - do you like Indiana Jones? Depending on how you answered those questions, purchasing LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures can be either the greatest purchase or a total bust.

Metal Gear Solid 4 Guns of the Patriots PS3 Review

June 30th, 2008 by Kristofer

Metal Gear Solid 4 Guns of the Patriots PS3 Review

Date: 06-27-2008 Written By Chris Gump

More than 20 years after the story started, Solid Snake’s story comes to an end. I wish I could say more about this game without spoiling it, but it is very hard. I will say that there is finally a reason to own a PS3 aside from just running Folding@Home all the time, or playing Resistance. Even if you only liked the original Metal Gear Solid, pick this title up. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed. This game, much like Grand Theft Auto 4, packs so much onto one disc that it is truly worth the $60 price tag. If you missed the games between one and four, take a moment to find what you’ve missed in the story so you can truly appreciate Solid Snake’s final mission.

…”Nintendo Wii wasn’t equipped with powerful hardware, Blu-ray
disc reader, great visual effects or performances never seen before, but
never the less it succeeded to impose itself as best buy console despite
Xbox 360 and Sony Playstation3. Instead of all these expected
characteristics Nintendo came out with revolutionary system of playing and
lower price than competition had. “…

June 17th, 2008 by Kristofer

Nothing makes wanna-be farmers more excited than Harvest Moon. Over the years, Harvest Moon has taken one of the strangest simulators ever created (farming? come on) and turned it into a huge hit.

Two years ago, Harvest Moon came to the DS. There was only one problem for Harvest Moon DS: you had to play as a dude. What if you are a girl and dont want to start a family with another girl? Dont want to woo and hit on another girl? Well, then you were screwed. Until now…

Interview with Haze’s Rob Yescombe @ OCModShop

June 2nd, 2008 by Kristofer

Recently I got the chance to speak with Rob Yescombe from Free Radical, Screenwriter on the hot new PS 3 Shooter Haze. I got the chance to play an early version of the game at the Penny Arcade Expo in Seattle, and Rob was kind enough to take the time to update me on what gamers can look forward to from this hot new titles.

GVK: What is the background and setting for the game?

RY: Haze is set in 2048. Theres a war going on in a region of South America where a bunch of evil skanky-ass malevolent rebels called The Promise Hand are trying to overthrow the government. Thankfully, a private military company (PMC) called Mantel Global industries is sending in its forces to iron things out. Now, mantel is a media-savvy company, and they dont want the bad press of one of their soldiers getting killed or hurt. So, they give all their soldiers a miracle nutritional supplement called Nectar. It makes the troops tougher, smart and faster. Basically everything they want and need to be on a battlefield.

Unreal Tournament 3 PS3 Review

Unreal Tournament 3 PS3 Review

Date: 05-22-2008 Written By Chris Gump

If you’re out shopping for a new PS3 game, and are a fan of deathmatch, then this game might be right up your alley. The action is there, and so are the insane amounts of gibbing you’ve come to expect from the series. Adding to the package is an almost infinite supply of free new content being created all the time by different people. You aren’t going to have to worry about buying map packs through the Playstation store or anything, there is no need to when all user content is freely available.
