NEW CONTENT (HTPC & Movies) – Star Trek: The Voyage Home HD Movie Review
QUOTE: “On initial release Star Trek: The Search for Spock divided critical and popular opinion, but money speaks all languages; the film made its entire budget back in the opening U.S. weekend, so Paramount quickly started to assemble what would become Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home.
Leonard Nimoy, who directed the previous entry The Search for Spock returns to helm this film. Many Star Trek fans cite this as their second favourite entry in the franchise, with a self reverential tone and just a little self mocking. The mid 1980’s setting has aged the film slightly, but it’s all in good fun.”

| Gigabyte GK-K6800 USB Keyboard Review |
Author: Jeremy DeLong Date: 05-22-2009
But most do not offer the ability to plug and go without the use of drivers or user setup programs. This is where the Gigabyte GK-K6800 does very well. For the price of a low end keyboard, you get a midgrade board with some pop. The multimedia keys function right out of the box. There are no drivers or firmware for the keyboard which really helps if you are buying a keyboard for a relative that may not be computer literate. It works in both Linux and Windows environment. The response of the keys when typing is one of the better I have seen in a keyboard, especially in such a cheaply priced unit. I would purchase this keyboard as a replacement for any of my friends or family. Maybe not the gamers, but definitely those who only need to surf the internet, watch movies, listen to music or type email and documents.

iXBT Labs Review: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 275 896MB

“This product fits between GeForce GTX 260 and GeForce GTX 285 in terms of performance and price. As we have already mentioned, the new card has been designed to oppose RADEON HD 4890, the most powerful single-GPU card from AMD. This corresponds to the $260 price tag — more expensive than GTX 260, but cheaper than GTX 285.”

Now you’re probably wondering why I would start my conclusion with the above paragraph. Here’s why. I wanted to point out that even though I’m not very good at the game I still had a blast playing through the entire game. I also wanted to point out that even though I’m not a ninja master, eventually, even people who just don’t do well with stealthers can enjoy and eventually complete this game. The last couple of things that I want to talk about in relation to the paragraph above is the game’s length and replayability. If you get lost a lot and are not very good in the stealth genre it might take you 10+ hours of gameplay to finish this game.

| XFX HD 4770 750M 512MB DDR3 DUAL DVI TV Video Card Review |
Author: Ben Sun Date: 05-21-2009
The bottom line on the XFX card is: this card is priced online for $109.99 which is the MSRP ATI suggests for this card. You get the performance, features and support that you would expect from a card with the XFX branding. XFX bundles their usual hardware and the driver CD comes with an automatic link to the best drivers suited for the card. DirectX 10.1 games have started hitting store shelves, improving performance in games that support it. Buying a $100 video card used to mean sacrificing performance, or features, but the $110 video card of today has both in abundance. ATI is the first video chip company to move to 40 nanometer manufacturing technology, providing lower power consumption, smaller die sizes and more performance than the same sized chip on an older manufacturing process like 55nm.

X-Men Origins – Wolverine is a fun game if you like Wolverine. Let’s face it, Wolverine does not use guns or explosives or shoot lasers from his eyes. Now he’s got some nasty claws that he uses to slice his enemies to death, but that’s about all the action you get out of Wolverine; him and his claws. Slicing enemies left and right may not have been this bad if the game was not so incredibly short. I bet that if I was to start a game right now and not wary about screenshots, combos and detail that I could finish the entire game in under 3 hours; more accurately, I should say, I bet I can do it again.

| MSI R4770 T2D512 Radeon HD 4770 Video Card Review |
Author: Doc Overclock Date: 05-20-2009
MSI’s card is the same as the reference design Radeon HD 4770, as the clock speeds and specifications are the same in almost every way. Performance of the card is similar to the other HD 4770s I’ve tested. Overclocking on the card reached a high of 820MHz for the core and 825MHz (3300MHz) for the memory, an impressive overclock. The cooling solution on the card is excellent as the fan makes little noise during operation and the heat pipe effectively cools the card. You have to remember this card is available online for the price of $109.99, making it compete against the 9800GTX/GeForce GTS 250 and not the heavy hitters like the GeForce GTX295 or GTX285 or its bigger brother the HD 4890. For those wanting great performance for the around $100 price range the HD 4770 from MSI fits the bill.

The old adage, “looks can be deceiving,” applies very well to the Western Digital My Book World Edition network-attached storage (NAS) device. With its small and simplistic physical design, housed in white plastic, and featuring only a set of white LED status light on its front, this NAS device belies the power, features, and depth of configuration options just hiding beneath its shiny veneer.
Which is not to say that the WD My Book World Edition NAS device isn’t simple to use–it is actually one of the easier NAS devices we’ve worked with. Network storage neophytes should have little trouble getting up and running in no time. NEW CONTENT (HTPC & Movies) – Star Trek: The Search For Spock HD Movie Review
QUOTE: “Buoyed by the success of Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan, Paramount quickly assembled what would become the third entry in the series. But first, how would screenwriters get around the fact that Spock died (in heroic circumstances) in the previous entry? Simple; you offer the actor a directorial role, a fat pay cheque and quite literally begin The Search for Spock.
Directed with skill and obvious talented actor, Leonard Nimoy, The Search for Spock holds up relatively well, 25 years later. Whilst not held in the same regard as its predecessor, it seems to command a little more respect than it did upon release.”

DFI’s UT P55-T3eH8 and DK P55-T3eH6 motherboards that we saw today are not mass production level samples and will see some changes – you will see some hand wiring and so on that obviously won’t be there in the final shipping product. | Thermaltake DH-104 HTPC Enclosure Review |
Author: Elric Phares Date: 05-20-2009
I spent over a week toying around with this unit and was impressed with everything other than the crummy iMON software that is being used to use the Media Center remote control, as plainly it sucks and is almost worthless. Media Center systems usually run Windows Media Center and the remote control already does works(within limits of course) in that environment, but the iMON software seems to be buggier than an ant hill and never seemed to get configured correctly. Windows Vista Media Center was never able to be setup to what I consider accurate or user friendly. This has really more to do with poor to none support from iMON and not Thermaltake themselves, but it has to be addressed in the review to be fair.

Everything USB is pleased to announce our Logitech G35 USB Dolby Gaming Headset review.
If there’s one thing I love, it’s product reviews that shatter my pre-existing conceptions of how things work. Logitech’s G35 Surround Sound Headset for gamers does just that, offering an immersive 7.1 soundscape over two physical channels that you wouldn’t believe until you’ve actually heard it. We’ve documented to great lengths the strengths and pitfalls of this particular headset and you can read all about them in our review @ EverythingUSB.com, right after the jump.

After the end of a month of using the Logitech LX710 Cordless Laser keyboard/Mouse combo, I think I have a very good grasp as to how well the product does or does not function, and my feeling are a mixed bag. On one hand the keyboard and the mouse both are designed to be ergonomic, and for the most part they were successful with that aspect of the 710s design. However, my results for using this combination to control my Media Center PC were nothing short of frustrating and disappointed at best case scenario.

Article Name: In Win X-Fighter ATX Gaming Computer Case Review @ Tweaknews
Article Url: http://www.tweaknews.net/reviews/in_win_x-fighter/
Article Snippet:
“I must say I’m impressed with In Win’s X-Fighter mid-tower gaming chassis. It has good cooling performance (particularly the CPU,) is quiet and has a very distinctive look with some lighting effects you won’t find on any other case. I like the side panel treatment with functional louvers and red mesh accent, and I like how the front panel design seems to unify visual elements from elsewhere on the case.”

Title: GMC R-4 Bulldozer Case Review @ Virtual-Hideout
Review link: http://www.virtual-hideout.net/reviews/GMC_R-4_Bulldozer_Case/index.shtml
Quote: “It’s a simple case on one respect, but it has a few features that make it stand out. The looks definitely will not be for everyone, but there will be a lot of people who will love it. My only real wish, is that those fake hydraulic shocks were actually functional, though I know that isn’t the least bit feasible.â€
