Title: Powerstick – USB Powered Portable Charger @ TestFreaks

Review Link: http://www.testfreaks.com/blog/review/powerstick-usb-powered-portable-charger/

Review Snipit:
“Today for review I’ve got an interesting and very useful little gadget called the Powerstick, it’s from a company called Ecosol that makes many other types of power related products, by their name you can see they are an environmentally conscience company as well so this product should strike a chord with the green in you. Green aside though, this product is something that surprised me with it’s function and form, it truly works as advertised. The main purpose of the product is to provide portable power for your portable devices like MP3 players and cellphones, it comes with several tips for popular devices. The Powerstick charges its internal battery from any USB port quickly, and there’s even an LCD display to let you know the status of the battery’s charge. The Powerstick works and works well… ”

Although these modules are optimised to run with Intel Core i7 processors, they do not feature Intel Extreme Memory Profiles (XMP). This doesn’t mean that these Platinum Series are no good … quite the opposite. OCZ’s Platinum modules are designed to offers the latest extreme speeds, ideal for overlocking enthusiasts. What makes these modules different from the rest, is that they offer an extremely low latency of 7-7-7-24, while maintaining a low voltage of 1.65V. Most triple channel DDR3-1600 kits have a memory latency of 8-8-8-24. If you require XMP ready kits … then you might want to take a look at OCZ’s Intel Extreme Series.

LanOC Reviews has released a new article which your readers might enjoy. We would be grateful if you would please share it with them.

TITLE: Razer Lycosa Mirror Edition
DESCRIPTION: As much of a fan of Razer products that I have been I have yet to own one of their keyboards. When they brought out the Tarantula keyboard I seriously considered picking one up. But after testing one out I decided to go with the 2nd generation G15 that I still use. Because of this I was really excited when our friends at Razer asked if we wanted to take a look at their new keyboard (ok so I may have begged a little). Today I am going to tell you my experiences with this new keyboard, will it live up to the hype of all of the other Razer products?

We have just posted our review of the BlueAnt V1 Voice Control Bluetooth headset.  Many of today’s cell phones have some sort of voice control built-in, but the V1 from BlueAnt takes this up several notches and gives us something useful.  If you do a lot of talking while driving, or in noisy conditions, the voice isolation and cancellation of this headset make it worth your while.  Catch our review for all the details.

Shaun White Snowboarding – PSP Review

Date: 01-25-2009 By Vlad Mihaiescu

I wanted to snowboard, grind some rails and fallen logs, take some jumps and do some tricks and Shaun White Snowboarding gave me just that. This is a snowboarding game and snowboarding is what you get. Yes, there are some things that could be improved such as allowing the player to design their own rider for instance and for some reason there does not seem to be a Superpipe event in the PSP version of the game (actually I don’t know if the Superpipe is included in any version of the game), but overall this is not a bad purchase. The one major downfall to the game is the fact that it is a very short game.

NEW CONTENT (Motherboards) – ZOTAC GeForce 8200-ITX WiFi AM2+ Motherboard

QUOTE: “For something so small, Mini-ITX has become one of the biggest things in the PC industry in recent times. Because we once only saw the biggest boards out there with all these features packed in, we have to admire Mini-ITX for maturing this far and allowing all this freedom in a smaller, tighter package.

Just recently we took a look at the ZOTAC offering supporting the Intel LGA775 CPU on a Mini-ITX base; today it’s AMD’s turn. We have been sent for approval the ZOTAC GeForce 8200-ITX Wi-Fi; not only will we put this board to the test to see just what it has on offer, we will also compare the 630i Wi-Fi ITX to this new rival to see which one gives the best overall performance.”

OCIA.net has posted their review of the OtterBox for BlackBerry Bold Defender Series.  Below is a direct quote from the review:

As you reach for the unfamiliar device it seems to jump out of your hand in a glorious leap of faith. Although you attempt to use cat-like reflexes to regain control of your prized possession, the phone smashes into the pavement below. Horrified at what you have just witnessed, you slowly approach the now inanimate mobile phone and find its once glorious LCD screen cracked. Gravity wins again.

InsideHW.com has reviewed BIOSTAR Radeon HD4650 256MB GDDR3 graphics card and we compared its performances with Radeon HD4650 512MB DDR2 and Radeon HD4670 512MB DDR3. Here is a quote from this review:

“Crisis that hit world economy has major influence at IT industry. nVIDIA announced losses in range from 40-50% compared to previous quarter and lot of other companies are firing employees as response on incoming troubles. Nevertheless there are companies that are not influenced too much by all this and one of them is ATI. Since launch of Radeon HD 4000 series ATI managed not only to regain its feet, but also to kick back and since then ATI didn’t make bad move what so ever. Last two moves were price drops on Radeon HD 4870 and HD4870X2 as reaction at new nVIDIA models and replacement of HD 3850 models. Soon we can expect to find HD 4850 graphics cards with price tag around 70€, so we decided to test one interesting model that is signed by BIOSTAR that can be even more interesting than some HD 4870 models…”

TITLE: Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P DDR2 P45 Motherboard @ Benchmark Reviews

DESCRIPTION: There are certain products in every category that somehow manage to attain legendary, if not mythical stature.  In the Intel socket based motherboard world that status is frequently obtained not by feature count, not by component selection, not by build quality, but by an ethereal capability to do one thing well: overclock the pins off the latest generation of Intel CPU.  The fact that this capability is inextricably linked to the skill of the person tweaking the BIOS, and in many cases is difficult to repeat, only seems to add to the legend.  Just as it is impossible to predict which aspiring new actor or actress will become the new darling of the Hollywood glitterati, there is an element of chance as to which motherboard among the many on offer will grab the brass ring.  GIGABYTE Technologies Inc. offers 24 version of P45 based Socket 775 motherboards, yet one of them is a diva of the overclocking community.  Benc! hmark Reviews is pleased to bring you our findings on the Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P Motherboard.

In the midst of the firmware fiasco MHW has a review of a Seagate ST3750330AS 750GB HD.

Quote:

“While making a few preliminary testing observations I noticed that the Seagate ST3750330AS burst rate seemed to be abnormally low. At first I couldn’t discern why this was but after a little more poking around I discovered the drive was operating in SATA I mode. To switch it to SATA II mode meant removing the world’s smallest jumper that was so tiny and pushed to the back of the block I had completely missed it in my earlier visual drive inspection, but taking the jumper off solved the low burst rate situation.”

“No matter what game you’ll play with the GeForce GTX 295, you’ll play it at dazzling frame rates, very high resolutions and the very best in image quality. Of course, the GTX 295 is totally wasted unless the rest of your machine is up to speed and you don’t have a monitor running a native resolution of at least 1920×1200 pixels. It’s also one of the loudest cards we’ve ever heard. But, it outperforms ATI’s Radeon HD 4870 X2. If only the best will do, you’ve just found it. The rest of us will struggle to justify the ludicrous asking price.”
