Title: Dead Space PC Review @ TestFreaks.com

Review Link: http://www.testfreaks.com/blog/review/dead-space-pc-review/

Review Snipit:
“Dead Space redefines the survival horror genre with a storyline that is full of suspense, intrigue and surprises. Gameplay is well done, though I don’t particularly care for the third-person view, I would have rather had first person, but it works well for this game. Graphics are spectacular overall, very nicely done and fairly realistic as well. Dead Space wasn’t exactly what I would call scary, but it is a gory and hellish bloodfest of carnage and death that will make any horror fan ecstatic with glee.  “

The review is on the PNY XLR8 9800GTX+ 512MB Video Card and the link to the review is:
Here is a snippet that can be used for the review:
“The PNY XLR8 GeForce 9800 GTX+ is another fine addition to the PNY video card lineup, and the 512MB version that we have for testing today really hits the sweet spot in terms of high performance per dollar.  We take a look at the performance of a single PNY 9800GTX+, and while we weren’t able to get our hands on 3 of them to test the 3-way SLI configuration, we did get ahold of two of these video cards to test their performance in a dual card SLI setup. Read on for the lowdown on this high-performance video card from PNY.”

Journey To The Center Of The Earth Blu-Ray Review @ Ascully.com

Quote

“This is the kind of adventure that makes kids go into the backyard and act it out, scene by scene. I like that about Journey To The Center Of The Earth. It’s not a great movie. There are lots of flaws, no real science to back it up, and several continuity issues, but so what!! It’s actually pretty fun.”

Brief:
Gelid Solutions’ Silent Spirit CPU cooler is a small, lightweight, high performing heatsink for both AMD and Intel CPUs (including Intel Socket LGA1366). Its four heatpipes connect to a pure copper base and an angled block of fins to cool surrounding motherboard components. The cooler is also extremely silent with Gelid’s silent 9 2mm PWM fan attached.

NEW CONTENT (Mobile) – Smooth Creations Smoothbook DR Notebook

QUOTE: “Today we’re looking at a notebook, although it’s more an encyclopedia collection than a single book when it comes to size. This is due to the fact it’s a desktop replacement; what this means is you get the ability to lift the unit up and move it around with you while still having the power of a full blown computer.

Getting back onto opening the box; instead of being greeted with your new notebook in a piece of plastic, we find ourselves looking at a briefcase with the Smooth Creations logo on it. This isn’t a cheap brief case either; it’s strong, sturdy, nice looking and packs some serious weight. Upon pulling the beast that is the Smoothbook DR out of the briefcase, your jaw hits the ground faster than the speed of light. Like the Asylum we checked out a while back, the Smoothbook DR is sporting one of those fancy airbrushed paint jobs which is nothing short out astounding to look at in the flesh.”

Article Name: Noctua NH-U12P Intel/AMD Heatpipe CPU Cooler Review @ Tweaknews.net
Article Url: http://www.tweaknews.net/reviews/noctua_nh-u12p_cpu_cooler/

Article Snippet:

“With the NH-U12P, Noctua has brought one of those rare products to the market that can provide high performance cooling while still maintaining very low noise levels. The included low noise adapters are a nice touch and definitely add value, but even at full speed the fan is one of the quietest active CPU coolers I’ve come across.”

Title: Mac OS X 10.5 vs. Ubuntu 8.10 Benchmarks @ Phoronix
Direct Link: http://www.phoronix.com/vr.php?view=13080
Summary: “Last week we published Ubuntu 7.04 to 8.10 benchmarks from a Lenovo ThinkPad T60 and had found Ubuntu’s performance degraded peculiarly over the past year and a half. We then published Fedora 7 to 10 benchmarks covering the same time-frame and from the same exact Intel notebook computer, but the newer releases of Fedora were only marginally slower in a few tests. In our performance exploration of Ubuntu we now have additional tests to publish this morning. This time around we’re switching out the hardware we’re testing on to Intel’s newer Core 2 series and we’re comparing the performance of the x86 and x86_64 editions of Ubuntu 8.10 against Apple’s Mac OS X 10.5.5 operating system.”

“Bejeweled Twist is still fun, even if not as much so as the originals, but it does look and sound much better than its predecessors. The ambient music is fitting and it even includes between-level sequences where a spaceship flies to the next spot in outer space. Previous versions of Bejeweled appealed to a pretty broad audience, and Bejeweled Twist shouldn’t change that – after all, it’s just a ‘twist’ on Bejeweled. It’s still a great game, but after four years and all the hype we expected more. PopCap hasn’t mentioned whether Bejeweled Twist will hit other platforms beyond the PC, but considering the success of its games on mobile and consoles, it would be no great surprise to see Bejeweled Twist debut sometime next year on alternate screens.”

OCIA.net has posted their review of the Palit Radeon HD 4870 Sonic Dual Edition Video Card.  Below is a direct quote from the review:

Finally we have the Smart Switch, which controls the dual BIOS that Palit has used with this card. In “normal” mode, the card operates at 750 MHz core / 950 MHz memory. When “turbo” mode is engaged, the card is overclocked to 775 MHz core / 1000 MHz memory – talk about user friendly overclocking!

NEW CONTENT (Visual) – Sapphire Radeon HD 4850 X2 In CrossfireX

QUOTE: “The HD 4850 X2 is one of those really weird releases. The original word was that the card would launch alongside the HD 4870 X2; clearly it didn’t. Word came through that the card was delayed for a week or two, but after that time was up the talk of the card faded.

Move forward to November and we finally have the release of the card. What’s interesting about the HD 4850 X2 is that the decision to build the card is completely up to the partner who has to make it themselves. For that reason, the only company to currently have a HD 4850 X2 floating around on the world wide interweb is from Sapphire. So with that said, let’s take the time to have a look at the package Sapphire has put together before we have a closer look at the card and get into the benchmarks.”

MSI have updated their HD4850 card from a single slot cooler to a Quad-Piped Dual Slot solution. Lower temperatures and a quieter card, coupled with the now famous higher than expected performance should make this a winner.

“Pretty much any game you play will allow for a minimum of 2xMSAA with virtually no hit to the FPS so graphical quality has a good start to begin with. The quad-pipe cooling setup does very well, keeping things cool and quiet; we saw a maximum load temperature of only 58C when overclocked and while we could hear the card, we had to stop to listen for it specifically among the other sounds of our watercooled test system. At idle the card is silent. The cooling solution also looks great in an industrial fashion and the pipework and clear plastic approach makes it a great accessory in a watercooled setup even if the card itself isn’t watercooled.”

Title: What is the ideal size for a notebook?
Link: http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/blog/105
Category: Blog

Here is a snippet:
“A tough question: standard size? Pocket size? Ultra thin? That will depend on the kind of usage you have and how comfortable you personally are with the selected format. Intel, for example, is heavily promoting the MID – Mobile Internet Device – format that their latest Atom platform enables. Atom is a very small processor that can run the same kind of programs you would run on your desktop (i.e. it is an x86 processor) and that consumes very little allowing computers running regular programs to fit the palm of your hand with wireless internet ca”

ASUS M3A79-T Deluxe Motherboard Review motherboards.org

Author: Benjamin Sun Date: 11-05-2008

ASUS has been the motherboard maker of choice for hardware enthusiasts for several years due to features like overclocking options in the BIOS, features of the motherboard, and performance of their boards. The ASUS M3A79-T board has the features that you would want from a 790FX board and has the best performance of any AMD board I’ve tested so far in most things.

The combination of the 790FX chipset and SB750 has some benefits including ACC meaning that the 790FX chipset now is on par with the 790GX in terms of overclocking features. ASUS has hit a home run with the ASUS M3A79-T board with excellent features, excellent performance and excellent overclocking. I find little to ding ASUS on except for the fact that the board could have a little better placement of the 24-pin power connector.

“ASUS P6T Deluxe OC Palm Edition is probably one of the most fully loaded socket 1366 motherboards to arrive on the market for the Core i7 processors, based on Intel X58 chipset with ICH10R south bridge chip. Features not found on most competing motherboards include a small 2.5″ LCD display for overclocking options, three x16 PCI Express slots, support for SLI (finally), support for SAS hard disk drives, an impressive 16-phase voltage regulator circuit and several other features common to high-end boards from ASUS, like Express Gate (which allows you to immediately load an internet browser and Skype even without a hard disk drive installed), passive heatsinks with heat-pipes for the chipset and voltage regulator circuit and solid aluminum Japanese capacitors. Let’s take a look on this motherboard and what you should expect from it.”

BUZZ Quiz Master – PSP Review

Date: 11-05-2008 By Vlad

They all laughed at me at the beginning, but as the night went along I ended up passing my PSP to many curious hands all reaching out for a turn to see just how smart they really were (or weren’t). Winner or looser, it didn’t matter. Everyone had fun and everyone wanted another round. If the luck can change in poker it can change at Buzz Master Quiz. Out of 5000 question spread across multiple categories such as Nature, General Knowledge, Celebrities, Movies, Music, Science, TV and Sport, some of the question are really easy while others are really tough. Sometimes if the luck is with you and the questing bouncing your way are really easy and your points keep on rolling, while other times one wrong answer can cause the majority points to be lost. You can even end up in the negative if you keep on answering incorrectly.

A couple of months back, I was looking into getting some additional speed out of my Gen-1 Mac Pro (1.1 to be exact). I had upgraded the RAM to 6GB and installed the 8800GT for best gaming performance, however, loading times were still high even with my 400GB SATA2 drive.

“We were expecting the overclocked system to run fairly hot … but with a dual radiator watercooling system expertly built by BEAST Computers, our temperatures for the HydroBox system was at a constant 38 degrees. Excellent. We’ll be attempting higher overclocks later … With a little patience and some carefully BIOS tweaking … I think we could archieve 4.2Ghz.”
