Evo-G MP1 Mousepad Review

September 13th, 2008 by Kristofer

Evo-G MP1 Mousepad Review @ DragonSteelMods

Mousepads have evolved quite a bit from the little both things that come for free with many systems, sure they’re nice for the average user, but when you’ve got a specialized, expensive gaming mouse those little freebie pads just don’t cut it.

On the review block today I’ve got the Evo-G MP1 mousepad and it’s a hybrid type of pad that offers the best of both worlds basically, a hard surface type pad that is on top of a soft, padded backing. The pad can be rolled if need be and since it’s soft has a bit of give to it that makes it all that more comfortable. From my time with the MP1, I’ve found it to be a great pad overall, no matter what you’re doing, and it works very well with either laser or optical mice.

So continue on to check out the MP1 from Evo-G…

Wondershare Video Converter Platinum Review

September 13th, 2008 by Kristofer

Hey guys and gals, I’m back with another installment in my series on video conversion programs to be used to transfer your movies to the Tilt!

This week I’ve got an ‘official’ review, the folks over at Wondershare emailed me and asked me to check out their video conversion software, this isn’t a DVD ripper but just for converting your already existing videos to a format compatible with your Tilt or other phones of course.

Wondershare Video Convertor Platinum can convert to many formats and not just to PPC, so it’s actually a very useful program for any of your video conversion needs.

Playit3D.com Review: TMA Impact - Game

September 13th, 2008 by Kristofer

Playit3D: EA’s Facebraker Review

We check out this mass brawl of sweaty oil’ed men to see if it really does make that great an Impact!

“…  TNA Impact is by far one of the best wrestling games i’ve played in a while.  It definitly has set a level for the next WWF game to overcome.  The only downside to the game is just simple annoyances which could have been easily solved with a little more patching here and there.  If you got this game I highly suggest playing online, if you haven’t.  I suggest trying a demo before you find yourself wasting £40 for a game you’re only ever going to play once.  Now I think I’m going to get back to playing some Dead or Alive, at least that game has girls!  I don’t know how much more men in tight lycra I can take!  ”

What is Wrong with Girl Gaming @ OCModShop

September 13th, 2008 by Kristofer

Girl Gaming is a joke.

Im not against girls in video games. I actually have sat and encouraged it. Every girl I ever date I am trying to make into a gamer, and I know, just like these girls that are spreading the movement that if you just give them a chance, video games are a great recreation. Having the opposite sex involved in a Halo tournament is wonderfulespecially if they kick my ass. But lets get something straight, I get my ass kicked by women just as I do by men. There is no difference.

The Love Guru Blu-Ray & DVD Review @ Ascully.com

September 13th, 2008 by Kristofer

The Love Guru Blu-Ray &  DVD Review @ Ascully.com

Quote

“The Love Guru, like many of Mike Myer’s DVDs has a ton of deleted scenes and bloopers, which are honestly quite funny. It is worth watching some of the bloopers just to see how much fun they had making this movie. Some of the deleted scenes (especially one featuring Verne Troyer supposedly skating) are left out of the film for good reason, but some seemed to me to be needed to advance the (limited) story….”

Gigabyte GeForce 9800GT 512MB Graphics Card @ APH Networks

September 13th, 2008 by Kristofer

Title: Gigabyte GeForce 9800GT 512MB Graphics Card @ APH Networks

* Description: What do you call a company that manufacturers the same car
under 50 different nameplates? Answer: General Motors. So, in that sense,
what do you call a company that markets the same graphics card under two
model numbers that indicate (supposed) separate generation of cards? Answer:
NVIDIA. Jokes aside, no one can deny that there are truths to these claims –
with the General Motors one having a bit of exaggeration, of course. The
ever-so-popular NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT was ever so popular amongst enthusiasts
and general consumers alike for its excellent performance; and even more so
considering the retail prices. That was approximately one year ago. Now,
tides have changed and ATI/AMD is returning to the game in the graphics front
with the performance-to-price leaders such as the 4850 and 4870. How about
taking the G92 based 8800GT and calling it a new product? Well, here we are,
with a 8800GT called a 9800GT. As most would know how the NVIDIA 9-series are
basically are mostly derived off the 8-series and not a completely new
generation (They are mostly G92’s and G94’s) — the 9800GT made it into the
9-series with a few minor updates. But trust us, it’s practically the same
thing — more info on the second page of this review. Therefore, in honor of
NVIDIA’s excellent branding job, we based this review off the Gigabyte 8800GT
TurboForce review with a few minor changes (We made it as similar as
possible, haha). Good thing Gigabyte made it a little more unique with a
custom built unit and an aftermarket Zalman HS/F. Let’s see how the 8800GT,
er, 9800GT, performs.

Appropriate Use of Blu-ray Region Coding

September 13th, 2008 by Kristofer

NEW CONTENT (Digital Lounge) - Appropriate Use of Blu-ray Region Coding

QUOTE: “Now, as I have already written about, unlike DVD region coding, where pretty much all discs were/are coded, Blu-ray discs are not always so. Some studios, including Warner, Paramount and Universal have never released a Blu-ray with region coding. However, some studios frequently assert their capacity to do so, with none guiltier than Twentieth Century Fox. This is of course contrasted by the deceased HD-DVD format, which was completely devoid of region coding.

With this in mind, there really should be some rules set aside for the studios that do choose to use region coding, which I feel is anti-competitive by nature. Of course, for an evenhanded approach to this issue, one must understand the history behind the feature, and why studios wanted it.”
