Super Talent ProjectX 2GB DDR3-1800 kit @ TechwareLabs

August 15th, 2008 by Kristofer

TechwareLabs has published a review on the Super Talent ProjectX 2GB DDR3-1800 kit. Here’s a clip from the review:

Quote: Hot on the heels of the previous DDR3 kit we slam in the Super Talent ProjectX kit rated at a blazing 1800MHz. Does this kit stand up to our other test kits so far or have we discovered a new meaning for the X?

GPU vs CPU @ OCModShop

August 15th, 2008 by Kristofer

Depending on whether you believe Intel or Nvidia (ok so you can throw AMD in the mix also) the secret isnt the CPU alone but the best video power is generated by the GPU (Graphics Processor Unit) and its storage buffer.

To hear Intel tell the story theyve embedded new capabilities in their CPUs that deliver the clock speeds and core-to-core communications that deliver the power and strength people like ourselves occasionally need when were using the system to render multi-layer video segments.

Audio-Technica ATH-CK7 Canal Headphones Reviewed @ TheTechLounge

Audio-Technica ATH-CK7 Canal Headphones Reviewed @ TheTechLounge

Quote:
“So, are they truly studio-quality?  Eh, if you had a studio you wouldn’t put up with the sweepingly uneven amplification.  You can compensate for it, and get some very impressive sound from these ATH-CK7s–rolls off the tongue, don’t it?–but then they’re going to be tied to whatever device you’ve got them plugged into.  I can’t use these with both my media player and my PC, because once I switch from my PC speakers, I have to reset my equalizer.  And they would be a total waste if my media player didn’t have a multi-band, customizable equalizer.  There’s no preset in the world that can correct for these babies.”

Beijing Olympics 2008 - PC Review

August 15th, 2008 by Kristofer

Beijing Olympics 2008

Date: 08-14-2008 By Vlad Mihaiescu

While this is not a bad game, it is not a great game either. Unless you just love button mashing games; in that case this is probably a newfound treasure. As I’ve mentioned in the review, Beijing Olympics 2008 is one of the best looking sports games ever created. But I feel it my responsibility to warn everyone that this is for the most part a button mashing game. Not only is button mashing a requirement, but very fast button mashing is a requirement; that is if you want to take home the gold. This game actually made my fingers sore from all the button pressing so from my prospective, this game is a no buy. But, if you love button pressing (you know who you are) go ahead and pick up a copy of this game; you will love it.

Cyber Snipa Battle Bag - Laptop LAN Bag Goodness - BCCHardware

August 15th, 2008 by Kristofer

We have just taken a look at the Cyber Snipa Battle Bag.  This is a handy laptop bag that has enough room to fit your laptop and accessories for the next LAN party.  What makes this unit stand out is not simply that it can quickly convert from a bag to a backpack, it’s the fact that it has a pouch that can fit a large keyboard to enhance your gaming experience.  Even a Logitech G15 has plenty of room.  Catch our review for all the details.

Thermaltake BlacX eSATA & USB 2.0 Dock

August 15th, 2008 by Kristofer

NEW CONTENT (Storage) - Thermaltake BlacX eSATA & USB 2.0 Dock

QUOTE: “I have already taken a look at the BlacX USB and BlacX SE which is also a USB only desktop drive device. The Thermaltake BlacX units have started a new class in hard drive storage. You can’t really call them carriers since you don’t take them with you on the go, nor can you call them internal hot swap since they do not sit inside the case. I guess for now, until someone tells me differently we will call them desktop hot swap devices.

The first two USB only BlacX units we looked at performed brilliantly for USB. In the back of my mind, though, I knew the transfer performance was being held up by the connection and recommended to everyone to just hang tight and wait until the eSATA version became available. Today we have this version in hand; the BlacX (part number ST0005U) with eSATA support has finally made its way to my door step and even though I have other articles that need to be written up first, I just had to see how this baby performs.”

Quote: Need to build a new rig on the cheap? Need modest Crossfire support, and a decent feature-set? The ECS P45T-A might be worthy of your consideration, as it packs in a good amount of functionality, solid performance, a cool color scheme and of course, a good price tag, of around $110.
