Aplus DVD Ripper Professional Review @ Tiltsite

August 2nd, 2008 by Kristofer

Continuing this little series of mine about DVD ripping and encoding software to take  your movies with you, today I’ve got Aplus DVD Ripper Professional up on the testing block. Is it any good? Well not really honestly… In my time with it I’ve found it doesn’t quite work the way ‘I want it to’ and that’s what counts right? The end users needs are what should be taken into consideration above all else.

I ran the program three times to convert my movie to PPC format, all three times I ran into problems and virtually an un-viewable end product. After three tries I figured I wasted more than enough of my time with this product and it was time to move on to something else… but continue on to check it out and see exactly why I would avoid this product..

August 2nd, 2008 by Kristofer

Asus EAH 4870 TOP Videocard Review:

Link: http://www.rbmods.com/Articles/Asus/4870_TOP/1.php

Quote: Today we are taking a look at one of the top of the line cards at this time. The card costs a bit more than the others on the market so the main question is does the card really perform so well that it’s worth putting the money into it. We are going to compare it vs a few other Asus cards that have proven to perform quite well and we will also see if we can tweak a bit more out of the card even though it’s factory tweaked already.

OCZ Alchemy Elixir Gaming Keyboard Review @ OCIA.net

August 2nd, 2008 by Kristofer

CIA.net has posted their review of the OCZ Alchemy Elixir Gaming Keyboard.  Below is a direct quote from the review:
Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last eight years, you’ve no doubt heard of OCZ. In August of 2000 they started out with a determination to manufacture the best high speed DDR available. And while they’ve certainly built their reputation on the performance and reliability of their memory, OCZ has branched out to provide enthusiasts with other products as well, most notably power supplies and coolers. Today I have something totally new from OCZ, the Alchemy Elixir gaming keyboard.

Thermaltake BlacX review at LanOC

August 2nd, 2008 by Kristofer

http://lanoc.org/reviews/?p=519

The ability to hot swap hard drives have been around for a long time in the business market. You don’t see it as often in the home or even enthusiast market. Thermaltake came out with their BlacX recently; giving people the ability to hot swap hard drives into a small box on your desk. This gives you the ability to use hard drives the same way that tape drives and zip drives have done in the past. And with 750 gig hard drives breaking under a hundred dollars you can backup and swap hard drives freely without worrying about running out of space. We are going to take a closer look at the USB2.0 model number N0028USU. We are going to see how it performs compared to other hard drive enclosures that we have looked at to date, along with how a product like this can change the way people backup and transfer files.
