* Title: Thermaltake Toughpower Cable Management 650W (Report) @ APH Networks
* Description: Wow, time sure flies by. Precisely two months ago, I was still
sitting in a classroom, scribbling down notes and preparing for exams. Then
there’s the excitement of the stuff I have planned for the summer after
exams. And of course, I was often found at various car dealerships checking
out the latest releases (And of course test driving, which is just my excuse
to redline cars) — that aside, what I’m talking about is that I have this
Thermaltake Toughpower Cable Management 650W modular power supply sitting
here at APH Networks for the last two months before I even started this
report. Historically, I haven’t been a big fan of Thermaltake power supplies.
I owned quite a few of their cases, which were excellent. But the power
supplies, at least back in the days, were low in price but not really the
‘tier 1′ performance that I’d come to expect. Generally speaking, this power
supply didn’t capture much of my attention either due to my personal
impression. When I finally decided to open it and check what was inside over
a month later, and did some research online, it seemed to me that the
Toughpower Cable Management 650W offered incredible performance across the
board. Was I surprised? Well, yes I was. Let’s crack open this power supply
and take a look at the physical build of this Channel Well Technology built
unit in our report today.

2580 MHz DDR3 frequency reached on Intel X48 chipset.
Fremont, CA (Vocus/PRWEB ) July 31, 2008 — Corsair®, a worldwide leader in high performance computer and flash memory products, announced today that its Dominator DDR3 memory modules have again shattered the world record for frequency. The record was set using the Asus ROG Rampage Extreme motherboard (Intel X48 chipset) and Corsair Dominator memory, utilizing Corsair’s award-winning DHX technology.
The world record of 2580 MHz was reached at latency settings of 9-9-9-24 using a Corsair Dominator DDR3 memory module. These results were achieved with an Intel® Core™2 Duo E8400 processor overclocked to a breathtaking 645MHz Front-Side Bus frequency. The results are verified by CPU-Z, an industry standard for verifying overclocking results, and are viewable here: http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=393648
Corsair previously announced on May 20th its world record of 2462MHz and has now raised the record up to 118MHz faster. Corsair achieved these results as part of ongoing lab experiments on the effect of temperature on memory performance. The 2580MHz memory speed was achieved with the entire test platform — including motherboard, CPU, chip set, and memory — chilled to -20 degrees Celsius.
“We are proud that our Dominator Memory once again hit a new world record” said Martin Mueller, Senior Director of Engineering, Corsair. “Our proprietary technology used on Dominator DDR3 allows for incredible overclocking results; we believe our technology is far superior to any other when it comes to overclocking memory modules.”
Corsair Dominator Memory contains ultra fast chips cooled using Corsair’s proprietary Dual-Path Heat Xchange Cooling Technology (DHX). Dominators are used in Dell, HP, Alienware and most high performance gaming systems. Corsair Dominator modules are available worldwide through authorized distributors and resellers in a variety of speeds and densities. Corsair memory products are backed by a lifetime warranty. Complete customer support via telephone, email, forum and the Tech Support Express Helpdesk are also available.

Title: Intel GMA X4500HD G45 IGP @ Phoronix
Direct Link: http://www.phoronix.com/vr.php?view=12671
Summary: “Earlier this month Intel had announced the GMA X4500 series, which is their latest and greatest when it comes to integrated graphics processors. These IGPs were greeted by same-day Linux support (it had actually arrived before the chipset was announced), but it’s still next to impossible to find motherboards using the G43 and G45 Chipsets that bear this IGP. Fortunately, however, our friends at Super Micro have come through and we have managed to get our hands on the C2SEA. The Super Micro C2SEA is an ATX motherboard that uses the Intel G45 Chipset in conjunction with an ICH10 Southbridge. This motherboard provides Intel GMA X4500HD graphics with VGA and HDMI interfaces. In this article, we are looking at the performance of this new Intel graphics processor under Linux.”

Title: Super Talent Pico C 8GB Flash Drive USB Flash Drive at Overclockers
Online
Link: http://www.overclockersonline.net/?page=articles&num=1901
Quote: Perhaps the most important asset of the Super Talent Pico-C is its
tiny form factor combined with its large capacity of 8 GB. Read performance
was up to par with other drives. In terms of build quality and looks, the
flash-based USB drive is very solid and sleek, although susceptible to
fingerprints. It is also waterproof, which is a great thing.

OCIA.net has posted their review of the Zalman CNPS9300AT CPU Cooler. Below is a direct quote from the review:
“Like most of their recent coolers, the Zalman CNPS9300AT uses a circular heatsink design, and just like previous 9000-series coolers the CNPS9300 uses an upright orientation with heatpipes connecting it to the base. CNPS stands for Computer Noise Prevention System, and Zalman uses this designation on all products designed for noiseless operation. Can an air cooler designed to be “noiseless” really provide enough cooling for modern processors?“

Fastsilicon has posted a new storage review, “Eagle Consus M-Series SATA to USB External Storage Review”
A Quote: “For those in the know, it’s not overly complicated to simply buy an external case for $20-30 and slap a desktop or notebook drive in to save a buck or two. But the convenience and build quality of these inexpensive alternatives are quite frankly all over the map. Wouldn’t it be nice to simply be able to slide a drive in and go without any installation hassle? That’s the idea behind Eagle’s Consus line of external storage systems.”
