Acer P243WAid 24″ LCD @ Phoronix

July 21st, 2008 by Kristofer

Title: Acer P243WAid 24″ LCD @ Phoronix
Direct Link: http://www.phoronix.com/vr.php?view=12631
Summary: “In the past we have looked at several different Acer LCDs and generally have been quite pleased with them. Acer offers LCD panels that range from cost-effective 17″ models to higher-end models that are much larger and offer additional features such as a metal stand, integrated audio, and HDMI. For those that are interested in a large high-resolution screen with HDMI support and a fast response time, but that isn’t too expensive, Acer has the P243WAid. The Acer P243WAid is a 24″ LCD that fits these traits and sells for about $390 USD, but it lacks some extra features such as height and pivot adjustments.”

OCZ NIA Brain-Computer Interface Evaluation and Showcase @ HotHardware.com

July 21st, 2008 by Kristofer

OCZ Technology has laid claim to being the first company to bring a “brain-computer” interface to the retail market and they have aimed it squarely at the gamer. The device is called the NIA, which is an acronym that stands for Neural Impulse Actuator, and instead of buttons, sticks, gyroscopes or motion sensors, it reads the body’s natural biosignals and translates them into commands that can be used to control PC games.

No question, it’s a pretty wild product. Go now and see.

Nexus Real Silent PWM Fans @ Tech-Reviews.co.uk

Title: Nexus Real Silent PWM Fans @ Tech-Reviews.co.uk

Briefing: When it comes to fans there are only two real things that matter to most people; silence and airflow. These are two things that are also not found together very often as often one is sacrificed in favour of the other. However we are beginning to see increasing amounts of fans which offer both. One such product that hopes to join this select group is the Nexus Real Silent PWM series of case fans.

Speedlink VOIP Mouse Review @ Rbmods

July 21st, 2008 by Kristofer

Speedlink VOIP Mouse Review:

Link: http://www.rbmods.com/Articles/Speedlink/Voip_mouse/1.php

Quote: Todays product must be one of the oddest things we have reviewed ever- and I’ve seen alot! We are going to take a look at Speedlinks VOIP mouse, this little mouse is the size of a laptop mouse and it opens up to be a corded Skype Phone. You can either receive calls or just make a call yourself. The small display shows you who is online and it allows you to call straight from the phone, to me those features don’t sound to bad but how well does it actually works is the question I ask myself.

Kingston HyperX PC3-14400 2GB Memory Kit

July 21st, 2008 by Kristofer

NEW CONTENT (Memory) - Kingston HyperX PC3-14400 2GB Memory Kit

QUOTE: “Kingston has managed to not only survive in the cut throat world of DRAM production, but to become one of the best memory technologies out there. When we first saw Kingston in our labs those many years ago, back when DDR was king, Kingston memory really didn’t impress us. Their yields were low, overclocking was practically non-existent and we had quite a few compatibility issues with some of their modules on a few boards.

Come 2006, HyperX memory really made a name for itself. With DDR2 modules overclocking to the 1200MHz level (or 600MHz clock cycles), this really got out blood pumping. And even today Kingston is used in a few TweakTown test beds; that’s just how well they have pulled themselves out of the dirt.”

ATT Tilt / TyTn II vs iPhone 3g Comparison @ Tiltsite.com

July 21st, 2008 by Kristofer

I don’t know about you guys but personally I’m rather sick of hearing about the ‘wonderful’ iPhone 3g.(and I use the term wonderful loosely..) It’s everywhere you look, it’s the popular thing to talk about and I don’t quite get what it is about this phone that has everyone in such an uproar over?! The first iPhone didn’t come out that long ago, and the new iPhone doesn’t offer that many new features over the old one, sure it has 3G, but that should have been on the first gen phone honestly. I mean Apple got into bed with AT&T, a known 3G provider/carrier but yet the phone doesn’t support it?! That just doesn’t make much sense to me really… Anyway, so the iPhone 3g adds GPS right? No and Yes, and well sort of, the actual usability of the GPS is still in question, and from what I understand it doesn’t provide turn by turn navigation, so if you need or like that feature you’ll have to buy a second device just for navigation. At least for me GPS is mainly for getting directions to help you get where you are going, what good is it to know where you are if you don’t know where to go to get where you’re going?

Continue on to read the rest… it gets interesting!

780G Chipset Motherboards Roundup @ InsideHW

July 21st, 2008 by Kristofer

InsideHW.com has posted roundup for seven motherboards with 780G chipset. You can read a clip from review:

“Since the number of motherboards based on AMD 780G chipset gets bigger and bigger, we decided to compare them forthright and to identify possible differences. Popularity of this chipset is shown in accessibility of motherboard based on it, superb integrated graphics and few more useful options. This kind of systems are great for multimedia computers because 780G will provide for this type of machines enough performances and of course, like any ATi, good display of colors…”

Axiom Audiobyte Audiophile Computer Speakers - BCCHardware Review

July 21st, 2008 by Kristofer

We have just posted up a review of the amazing Axiom Audiobyte speakers for the audiophiles computer.  These speakers offer great performance, flawless sound quality and clarity that can’t be beat.  They won’t shake your brain until it bleeds but they are possibly the best things we’ve ever hooked up to a soundcard.  2.1 Channels will set you back over $500 so check out our review before you drop your cash.

The Axiom Audiobyte speakers with EPZero subwoofer are certainly not for everyone.  These speakers sit in a niche market that attracts audiophiles or audio connoisseurs if you will.  The sound quality is impeccable and the clarity is amazing.  While there certainly are many other companies that offer louder speakers for less money, they certainly don’t sound near as nice. . .

InsideHW.com has posted review for Kingston DataTraveler HyperX. You can read a clip from review:

Still, Kingston decided to utilize this very recognisable brand on other Kingston products. So, thanks to that we were introduced to Kingston DataTravel HyperX USB flash memory.
