Title: Noctua NF-P12 Case Fan Review @ FusionMods.Net
Link: http://www.fusionmods.net/index.php?theCase=viewThread&threadID=1595
Quote: “Overall the NF-P12 performs excellently. Running at full power you can feel a strong air flow which is all we can really ask for in most instances. Additionally just running the fan outside of the case to try it out, the noise is still barely audible, and once inside the case, everything is completely silent.

The CE marking is a mandatory European marking for NAS products to indicate conformity with the essential health and safety requirements set out in European Directives. Thecus products are evaluated by a Taiwan Accreditation Foundation (TAF) certified independent test laboratory. CE Verifications of Compliance are issued in order to apply CE marking on Thecus products. Those verifications are to document that Thecus products meet the relevant requirements, eg, emission and immunity standards.
Thecus 1U4500 series is one of the products that received CE marking (comply with CE standards EN 60950-1:2001+A11:2004 and IEC 60950-1:2001). In addition to the CE standards, in February 2008, Thecus contracted a TAF/ Chinese National Laboratory Accreditation (CNLA) certified independent laboratory to conduct the reliability test on 1U4500 to verify its performance under extreme conditions. The test items included shock test, initial random vibration test and extended random vibration test (all International Electrotechnical Commission, IEC, & International Organization for Standardization, ISO, certified). The results indicated that 1U4500 operated normally under unfavorable operating environment. These test results comply with several unique Australian and European qualifications.

Title: Sunbeamtech 9-Bay Acrylic Case Review
Link: http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/584
Category: Reviews
Summary:
Are you interested in an all-acrylic case for your system? Today we took a look on Sunbeamtech’s 9-bay acrylic case (AC-9B-HUVB).
Here is a snippet:
“For many geeks acrylic cases are a dream coming true. Sunbeamtech currently manufactures five models and even though theoretically acrylic is a material more expensive than steel, Sunbeamtech is able to market their acrylic products between USD 50 to USD 85, which is a real bargain. Today we are going to take an in-depth look on their most expensive model, AC-9B-HUVB, a mid-tower case featuring nine 5 ¼” bays, a hard disk drive cage for up to four drives and space for installing up to six fans (the case comes with three 120-mm fans that glow blue when they are turned on). Check it out.”

It has finally arrived. A little belated but the third release of Mozilla’s much-acclaimed Firefox 3 has finally been released. Those who fell in love with how fast a browser could be were deeply disappointed when Firefox 2, with its memory hogging bare bones interface, became available to the world. It seemed a step backward for the innovator of today’s web browser. Those who switched to another browser still longed for the multitude of extensions and add-ons that were available to Firefox users.
First, a little background on the first two Firefoxes. F1, which premiered as “Phoenix” way back in 2002, officially became known as Firefox when version 0.8 came around. It was fast, it was sleek, and it got the job done: bells and whistles included. And then came Firefox 2. A flat-out memory muncher, a horrid interface, and for some reason had the browsing speed of IE with all the toolbars activated. It was a sad day for the devoted Mozilla users worldwide. I have been using Firefox since it first became available. I switched to Firefox 2 when the upgrade hit the Mozilla site, and now I will give F3 a test drive.

Excerpt:
“Last time we tested RADEON HD 4850 in games. Now we got hold of the higher-end HD 4870 with GDDR5 memory. Even though it has the same architecture and the same number of processing units, we decided to compare it to GeForce GTX 260, its competitor in terms of price.”

OCIA.net has posted their latest article entitled: How Much Energy Is Used At Your Computer Desk? Below is a direct quote from the article:
“If a computer is plugged into a wall, and nobody is there to turn it on, does it still use energy? While a more familiar question with trees begs existential consideration, the answer to my question is far simpler; it’s yes. As gas prices go up and up, everyone is looking to economize and save money everywhere they can. Phantom energy, electricity drawn by devices not in use, is one target of many people’s efforts. Still, a lot of us think that the minimal wattage used by an empty cell-phone charger isn’t worth the hassle and that there are bigger fish to fry. The <1W pull we observe in chargers and other small appliances leads us to forget about unplugging our devices altogether, even the bigger ones. What about your computer, though?“

NEW CONTENT (Memory) - A-DATA Vitesta DDR3-1600X 2GB Memory Kit
QUOTE: “Intel added what it termed XMP or Extreme Memory Profiling to its X38 and X48 chipsets; this in terms of technology is the same as NVIDIA’s EPP which adds extra instructions into the memory SPD, allowing the memory to tell the system how fast it can run, what extra voltages it needs and what timings can be used for certain extreme profiles.
Today we have A-DATA’s Vitesta Extreme Edition DDR3 modules designed for XMP with a rating of 1600MHz; the fastest that Intel currently supports on its X series chipsets. Let’s see how well it performs.”

NEW CONTENT (Miscellaneous) - FpsBrain Supplement – The Gamer’s Pill
QUOTE: “These are no ordinary supplements I’m soon to discover, they contain a little extra to help you focus and be able to concentrate more. Now, I’m a world class sceptic when it comes to the herbology department and I looked at the bottle like it actually contained snake oil.
The next night without them, I felt tired much quicker than the night before. About two and a half hours in I found myself needing more breaks to get a drink and rest for a while in an effort to get my concentration back. Obviously there is something to be said for these super-vitamin pills.”

Title: ThermalTake Armor+ MX Case at Modders-Inc
Summary: The case is virtually a tool free design, in fact with the exception of the screws I used for the PSU installation. Managing the cables and wiring was a snap and Thermaltake even provided the cable management supplies and need space in the chassis. Installation in the Thermaltake Armor+ MX was simply the easiest I have done in a while.

My Passport Studio 250GB USB Mac
” Western Digital is well known to system builders and end users for providing excellent storage solutions matched with a good warranty and support. I only recommend two hard drive manufactures to people, Western Digital is one of them (the other being Seagate). The latest and greatest things in terms of technology have moved out of the computer case and into portable storage. The My Passport Studio comes in at 250GB and this one is preformatted for Mac. Don’t let that scare you, though. ”
