BEIJING, July 11 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ — With Toshiba suspending the production of HD-DVD video disc players (http://www.tootoo.com/buy- DVD_video_disc_players/ ), only Blu-ray Disc remains in the standard 1920¡Á1080 format and became dominant in the disc player and video disc market. However, due to the lack of Blu-ray Disc sources in China’s market, Blu-ray Disc players sold by Sony, Panasonic, and Pioneer attract few buyers in the China market.

This hurdle will soon be cleared. Tootoo.com (http://www.tootoo.com/ ) learned from the Blu-ray Disc Association Press Conference that Shanghai Epic Music Entertainment Company Ltd. will start producing Blu-ray Discs in China’s mainland. The company’s workshop extension project in Shanghai is almost completed. The modified workshop will have 13,000 square meters, and Blu-ray Disc production will commnece in about December this year

Digit-Life Review: ATI RADEON 4850 512MB

Excerpt:
“Not long before RADEON HD 4800 series was announced, NVIDIA cut GeForce 9800 GTX prices from 299 to 199 USD and launched the overclocked 9800 GTX+ for 229 USD. Today we shall examine this new card from ATI (AMD) that has scared NVIDIA so much. We’ll examine not only the reference card, but also four cards from AMD partners, which are essentially copies of the reference card.”

Super Talent MasterDrive MX 60 GB SATA-II SSD @ Benchmark Reviews

July 11th, 2008 by Kristofer

TITLE: Super Talent MasterDrive MX 60 GB SATA-II SSD @ Benchmark Reviews

DESCRIPTION: Super Talent is very well known for their enthusiast-grade system memory kits, such as PC3-14400 DDR3 1800MHz ProjectX kit we reviewed several months back.  So when a product such as Solid State Drives (SSD’s) arrived to market, it makes perfect sense to build off of their existing reputation to introduce new high-performance storage devices.  The Super Talent MasterDrive MX is an example of this, which features SATA-II controller architecture and high capacities.  Early SSD products offered very small capacity, leaving them out of reach for primary drive usage.  Super Talent solves this problem, and introduces the 60 GB FTM60GK25H.  Benchmark Reviews tests the MasterDrive MX against a large collection of competitor SSDs in this article.

The introduction of the GTX200 Series GPU has brought NVIDIA new fame with impressive scores. And with the option of SLI, NVIDIA has another ace up its sleeve; the only chipsets to support it.

Today we have the 790i SLI trio in the form of the ZOTAC 790i SLI, MSI P7N2 Diamond and of course the XFX 790i. Both ZOTAC and XFX are reference clones, where MSI has made some changes with pleasing results.”

Saitek Aviator (AV8R) USB Flight Stick @ OCModShop

July 11th, 2008 by Kristofer

Most PC gamers play with a keyboard and mouse, frankly because most PC gamers are either casual gamers or are playing First-Person-Shooters at their local LAN party. But there are times when you need a custom controller for a particular type of game. For PC gamers, an Xbox 360 controller works just great (read our review here) when a keyboard just won’t do.

One prime example where a real flight stick comes in handy is in Battlefield 2, UT3, or Quake Wars. When in walking mode nothing can really beat the tried-and-true keyboard+mouse, but when you enter a vehicle things can change quickly. Helicopters (or futuristic vehicles that work like them) are particularly difficult to control unless you have a gamepad or flight stick.

Asus Maximus II Formula motherboard review

July 11th, 2008 by Kristofer

Asus Maximus II Formula motherboard review
http://www.techspot.com/review/105-asus-maximus-2-formula/

Codenamed Eaglelake, the P45 is the mainstream offering in the 4 series. This partly new chipset will support upcoming Core 2 Duo and Core 2 Extreme processors using a bumped 1600MHz Front Side Bus - current Core 2s use either a 800MHz, 1066MHz or 1333MHz FSB. In terms of features, the P45 can easily impress primarily due to the inclusion of the ICH10R south bridge.

Just recently Asus announced the Maximus II Formula which is based on the P45 chipset, and is the latest member of the elite Republic of Gamers series targeting gamers and overclocking enthusiasts alike. After all, they will need to aim at a certain niche willing to spend the big bucks given this board’s suggested price tag of nearly $300.
