Digit-Life Review: GeForce 9600 GT Triplet

Excerpt:
“Today we are going to take a look at at products made by Gainward and Forsa. The former is a well-known manufacturer, while the latter is a startup. I cannot say that it’s super, but it manufactures good products for minimal prices possible. There are both pros and cons. Today we are going to examine one card from Forse that is already replacing the regular reference 9600 GT.”

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of The Patriots Reviewed @ TheTechLounge

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of The Patriots Reviewed @ TheTechLounge

Quote:
“Before MGS4 hit the shelves, a flurry of gameplay videos hit the web, and I couldn’t help but watch a couple of them. These videos left me deeply worried about the game. Reservedly excited, you might say. The thing that really had me worried was that it seemed the formula might have been modified a bit too much - elements I had loved so much in the previous titles didn’t seem to be there anymore. In a way, it just looked a bit like Call of Duty meets Splinter Cell, with some Metal Gear Solid rainbow sprinkles on top. So, after playing the game all the way through (and then some), were my reservations justified?”

I4U: VOX TV-R HDD Media Player/Recorder Review

July 8th, 2008 by Kristofer

I4U NEWS published a review of the VOX TV-R HDD Media Player/Recorder.

Quote from the review:
“Today we are looking at the VOX TV-R HDD Media Player/Recorder. The device allows you to record movies and TV shows from your TV to the VOX TV-R HDD Media Player/Recorder internal HDD. You can also copy files and images directly from camcorder and digital cameras.

Once the DVD was playing all you do is hit record and the video is automatically stored to the VOX TV-R HDD Media Player/Recorder in AVI format. After you are done recording your video you can immediately play the recording back. There is a noticeable difference in the video quality between the DVD version and what the VOX TV-R HDD Media Player/Recorder records.”

BIOS REVIEW: Blue Microphones Snowflake

July 8th, 2008 by Kristofer

Blue Microphones’ Snowflake is apparently the first portable professional USB microphone to hit the market. But more importantly, its retro design looks stunning. Following on from the company’s Snowball Professional USB Microphone, the new microphone sports a more portable design - thus dubbed the Snowflake. You can even hang multiple Snowflakes from your ceiling to simulate a snow storm.”

Sharkoon SATA Quickport Review @ Velocity Reviews

July 8th, 2008 by Kristofer

Velocity Reviews have a new review of the Sharkoon SATA Quickport, which allows you to quickly connect a SATA drive to an external docking bay:

“Sharkoon have introduced an interesting product for PC enthusiasts that allows you to plug SATA hard drives into an external enclosure – without the need to screw into a drive bay. It looks just like a HDD docking station, you can plug/remove drives at any time and access the data on your PC via USB cable. As computers are upgraded it is inevitable that spare SATA drives will start to mount up, and yet there isn’t enough space to attach them to most motherboards. This solution lets you quickly access drives when required, saving the hassle of swapping drives inside your PC with the power off. You can use 3.5” or 2.5” drives without the need for any screwdriver or tools.”

Super Talent MasterDrive MX 60GB SSD

July 8th, 2008 by Kristofer

NEW CONTENT (Storage) - Super Talent MasterDrive MX 60GB SSD

QUOTE: “This last month has been filled with press releases from companies promising high performance solid state technology at prices that are up to 30% less than any of the drives we have previously tested. The cost reduction has to do with memory manufacturers starting to ramp up production of the memory chips used, and according to DRAMeXchange, prices are down 26% for many MLC memory sizes popular for use in SSDs.

Super Talent is the first to send us their latest MLC Solid State Drive that takes advantage of the new lower contract prices on memory. The MasterDrive MX Line is available in sizes ranging from 8 to 120GB. Our sample 60GB model is available at Newegg right now for less than 400 U.S. Dollars. Let’s have a look and see how these new low cost Solid State Drives perform against our trusty Western Digital Raptor 150GB and Samsung’s SATA II SLC drive.”
