Otterbox Laptop Case Accessory Kit Review

April 16th, 2008 by Kristofer

If you need to protect your laptop, pda, cellphone or almost anything you’ll want to check out the line of products from Otterbox, they offer quality, durability and protection from the elements as well. If you’ve got a rugged lifestyle, or just need good quality protection for your stuff, then Otterbox has got you covered.

I’ve got, in my opinion, the best laptop case on the market today, at least for protection of my laptop. The Otterbox 7030 Laptop Case protects my laptop from dust, dirt, water, shocks and even from being crushed but there isn’t really any space to carry anything else with you but your laptop in the case, there are no pockets or anything like that. Recently Otterbox released an accessory kit for their 7030 Laptop Case, which allows you to now carry pens, pencils, business cards and documents easily inside your Otterbox 7030 laptop case.

It’s a two piece kit that attaches with velcro to the inside of the lid of the case, the velcro makes it easy to install and remove if not needed. Having it in two parts is useful as well, you can grab the documents folder section and you’ve got a nice little carrier for your folders and papers. The second section holds your writing instruments and has a little pocket for business cards, both sections are made of durable nylon so they should last as long as the case. So now, not only will the 7030 case protect your laptop from the rigors of daily life but also your documents as well.

Creative EAX vs. ASUS DS3D GX 2.0 Article

April 16th, 2008 by Kristofer

When Creative publicly called ASUS out a few weeks ago over their fake EAX support, we had an idea to compare both true EAX along with the DS3D GX 2.0 engine from ASUS to see if real-world differences could be heard. So we picked up three Creative-recommend games and did just that. Though true EAX ultimately came out on top, the GX 2.0 performed so well, that Creative now has a true reason to become worried.

Quote: Not long ago, we received word from ASUS that they had managed to incorporate EAX effects into the drivers of their Xonar cards. Soon afterward, Creative told everyone that was false, and that ASUS “EAX” was not true EAX. Who’s telling the straight story, and will you even notice a difference?

VIZO Mini-Ninja Laptop Cooler - Kicking the Butt of Heat - BCCHardware

April 16th, 2008 by Kristofer

We have just taken a look at the small, tidy and black Vizo Mini-Ninja laptop cooler.  This cooler uses a pair of 70mm fans to lay down a path of mayhem and destruction that only Ninja’s can.  It’s not the best performing cooler on the market, but it’s still a solid product that deserves a second look if you have a toasty laptop.  Take a look at our review for all the details.

Quote:
While the Vizo Mini-Ninja isn’t a miracle worker and doesn’t provide an insane amount of cooling prowess, it does do a better job that no cooler at all although it comes in second place to the Lapworks Attachè.  A laptop is made to be used on a lap, but you can see by the temperature chart above that it gets pretty uncomfortable as temperatures get uncomfortably warm.

Sanyo Xacti CG6 Digital Camcorder Review @ OCIA.net

April 16th, 2008 by Kristofer

OCIA.net has posted their review of the Sanyo Xacti CG6 Digital Camcorder.  Below is a direct quote from the review:

The size of the CG6 is perfect. It is small enough to fit into a purse or pocket, yet large enough that you don’t feel like you are going to break or drop it during use. The camera uses a pistol-grip style which works perfectly for both left and right-handed users. The fact that the camera is so small also means it is extremely lightweight.

I4U: ASUS EN9600GT Top Video Card Review

April 16th, 2008 by Kristofer

I4U NEWS reviews the ASUS EN9600GT Top Video Card.

Quote from the review:
“Today we are checking out another overclocked 9600 GT. This card is the ASUS EN9600GT Top. ASUS promises a 10% overclock right out of the box and provides applications to let you overclock even more.
The only real sore point for me with the ASUS EN9600GT Top is that the custom heatsink makes the card very thick. You can still run the ASUS EN9600GT Top in SLI mode, but you are likely going to give up the slot right below where you put the ASUS EN9600GT Top.”

ASUS EN9800 GTX 512MB Graphics Card

April 16th, 2008 by Kristofer

NEW CONTENT (Visual) - ASUS EN9800 GTX 512MB Graphics Card

QUOTE: “While the 9800 GTX might not be the revolutionary jump that we had hoped for, it’s still a very good card for someone looking at buying a new graphics card with this kind of budget. The first retail 9800 GTX we’re going to look at comes from ASUS and doesn’t carry with it any extra acronyms such as TOP.

With the 9800 GTX in hand we took the time to see how it goes up against other high-end retail cards like the HD 3870 X2 from ASUS and the 9800 GX2 from Zotac. While Dual GPU cards are good in theory, if the application isn’t able to make full use of the power then high-end single core cards can outperform them. Let’s find out how the 9800 GTX goes against these Dual GPU wielding cards.”

ASUS 9800 GTX 512MB Graphics Card Review @ Virtual-Hideout

April 16th, 2008 by Kristofer

Title: ASUS 9800 GTX 512MB Graphics Card Review @ Virtual-Hideout

Review link: http://www.virtual-hideout.net/reviews/ASUS_EN9800GTX/index.shtml

Quote: “The bottom line here is that the ASUS EN9800GTX is a much cooler graphics card that’s capable of replacing the 8800 GTX in ASUS’ line up. Should you run out and replace that 8800 GTX you already have? Not really. Performance between these two GTXs is a pretty even battle with the newer 9800 winning out a little. Those looking for the newest performance card that offers the best bang for buck are going to find the ASUS EN9800GTX to be a good option. The only thing that would make it an even better choice would be a lower price tag and a decently bundled video game. It’s ASUS, so anything is possible.”

Women 4 times more likely than men to give passwords for chocolate

April 16th, 2008 by Kristofer

London, UK 16th April 2008 - A survey by Infosecurity Europe (www.infosec.co.uk) of 576 office workers have found that women far more likely to give away their passwords to total strangers than their male counterparts, with 45% of women versus 10% of men prepared to give away their password, to strangers masquerading as market researches with the lure of a chocolate bar as an incentive for filling in the survey. The survey was actually part of a social engineering exercise to raise awareness about information security. The survey was conducted outside Liverpool Street Station in the City of London.

This year’s survey results were significantly better than previous years. In 2007 64% of people were prepared to give away their passwords for a chocolate bar, this year it had dropped to just 21% so at last the message is getting through to be more infosecurity savvy. The researchers also asked the office workers for their dates of birth to validate that they had carried out the survey here the workers were very naïve with 61% revealing their date of birth. Another slightly worrying fact discovered by researchers is that over half of people questioned use the same password for everything (e.g. work, banking, web, etc.)
