S&M S2 Finale: What’s New Beelzebub? @ [OC]ModShop

April 12th, 2008 by Kristofer

The Sam and Max saga continues into the fiery pits of Hell. After dropping through the Bermuda triangle with Bosco’s corpse, Sam and Max find that they must take a train into Hell to retrieve Bosco’s soul. Using their typical crime-solving tactics, the twosome must find a token to catch the next soul train to the pits of Satan’s Lair.

But getting in much easier than getting back out. Not only do the crime fighters find it hard to escape the grips of Beelzebub, but they find themselves surrounded by the people who they themselves sent to Hell. Now Sam and Max are trapped in a world where it’s always Monday and it’s always just before quitting time. It would almost feel like real life if not for the fact that the guy in charge is Satan himself. Actually, I guess this is pretty close to real life.

NVIDIA Gets Aggressive, Dismisses CPU-GPU Fusion @ HotHardware.com

April 12th, 2008 by Kristofer

NVIDIA held a Financial Analyst Day yesterday, where representatives spoke about the company’s strengths, market share, technology, and direction.  There was a lot of discussion regarding current products and competition, which seemed to get NVIDIA’s CEO Jen-Sun Huang fired up in a way that’s not often seen publicly.

The always outspoken Jen-Sun really went on the offensive and essentially dismissed CPU-GPU fusion and Intel’s upcoming discreet graphics product (codenamed Larrabee).  He also downplayed the erosion of NVIDIA’s market share in the mobile segment and promoted the APX 2500 “system on a chip”, CUDA, and other NVIDIA initiatives.  We’ve got more notes from NVIDIA’s Financial Analyst Day available here:

Thermaltake Xaser VI Full Tower Case Review @ OCIA.net

April 12th, 2008 by Kristofer

OCIA.net has posted their review of the Thermaltake Xaser VI Full Tower Case.  Below is a direct quote from the review:

Thermaltake is one company that is hard to stay on top of. In the M9 case review last month, I mentioned how it seems like there is always something new coming from those folks. Well here to prove me right is the latest offering in the Xaser class full tower, the VI VG4000 series. Thermaltake calls the Xaser VI a Super Tower, and if the box is any indication of its size, I’d say they’re right.

Noctua NH-U12P CPU Cooler Review @ Virtual-Hideout

April 12th, 2008 by Kristofer

Title: Noctua NH-U12P CPU Cooler Review @ Virtual-Hideout

Review link: http://www.virtual-hideout.net/reviews/Noctua_NH_U12P/index.shtml

Quote: “All its splendor aside, it’s a fantastic performer. It’s easily the best, most capable cooler to cross this test bench. While it carries over the commonly seen tower design, the performance will easily be the deciding factor for the user who literally wants nothing but the coolest CPU possible. The Noctua NH-U12P is a great performer, it’s cool, it’s recommended, and it’s my current top choice of CPU coolers.”

Seagate Momentus 5400.4 250GB 2.5 HDD

April 12th, 2008 by Kristofer

NEW CONTENT (Storage) - Seagate Momentus 5400.4 250GB 2.5” HDD

QUOTE: “Today we have been sent Seagate’s new notebook drive, the Momentus 5400.4. This is the fourth generation of Momentus drives; the last one we managed to have a look at out-pioneered the use of Perpendicular recording methods when it first arrived, proving it could easily handle extra data as well as increase speeds.

Its construction matches that of all other 2.5” drives; it’s light weight so you’re not lugging an extra brick inside your notebook. It runs extremely cool, so not to add to heat which is especially important in the HTPC and notebook market where most of these run with only one fan.”

Lian-Li Armorsuit PC-P60 @ techPowerUp

Lian-Li Armorsuit PC-P60

Brief:
The new Lian-Li Armorsuit PC-P60 is a very elaborate case, which is quite different from the understatement shape of their usual enclosures. Three LED fans are built into the very detailed front door and a top airduct guides air out of the case toward the back. Even though the case retails at $269 it offers a lot of premium features justifying the cost.

Strong Bad’s Cool Game for Attractive People Preview @ OCModShop

April 12th, 2008 by Kristofer

I feel a great disturbance in the Force… as if a million voices cried out in laughter… and peed their pants a little.

That’s right… it appears that a game based on the Internet cult cartoon, “Homestar Runner” is coming for the PC and Nintendo Wii.

The games will be released as episodic content and delivered via the Internet. TellTale games is developing the games, and they have great experience with making successful episodic content, as they revived the adventure PC genre with their “Sam & Max” serials, which wraps up their Second Season.
