BHFO.org Press Release
Summary:
Leadtek WinFast PX8800GT:
“Gracing our test bench is the WinFast PX8800GT from Leadtek. Recent releases of updated G92 video cards, such as the 9800X2, have lowered the price of the 8800GT. With a 204USD price tag, the G92 variant is in the same price range as the 512MB HD 3870, the 640MB 8800GTS, amongst others. With a vast selection of video cards retailing in the same price range, making a decision is difficult. We run the 8800GT through real world tests, synthetic tests, and thermal tests to reveal if this cost effective contender handles the modern PC landscape.“

…The external packaging for the WinFast 8800GT is composed of a heavy weight glossy cardboard. The gloss coat also spreads the light spectrum to create a rainbow streak effect across the surface of the packaging. The front cover is laden with marketing terms and technology badges. Besides the CGI character, there is a graph comparing the RV670 vs. the 8800GT, a picture of the card inside, and a logo indicating which free game is included. The marketing hype is not over used, and they have an attractive retail presence....”~Chris Hunter

Aquarium and Fantasy Aquarium are indeed two different games, separated like twins at birth but after a long separation and after long last, have been brought back together. If you are familiar with one game, then you will immediately be familiar with the other.
Aquarium is a fish sim, much like Zoo Tycoon. Build the habitat, choose your critters, and keep them alive. It sounds simple, but Aquarium can be a piece of work if you want to devote a lot of time and attention to the game. You have a total of five tanks, each with up to ten fish and ten aquarium fixtures (rocks, decorations, etc.). You are in control of the water temperature, pH levels, light color, aquarium background (if you want that fake paper stuff with the plants or Hawaiian sunset), and rock color. Also, your fish need to be kept happy with food and a clean tank. Last but not least, each of your fish can have a name, and you can scroll and monitor each fishs emotional and physical wellbeing.

Quote:
We’ve had the ThermoHAWK 400L around BCCHardware for over a month now and this has become of the most handy tools for testing temperatures of motherboard chipsets, graphics cards and other components in my office. Because of its nice small size it is easier to take with me on service calls, and fits into my tool bag much better than my previous larger IR thermometer.

| SilverStone KLO2 Kublai Series Case Review |
 |
Author: Ben Sun Date: 04-03-2008
There’s a lot to like about the SilverStone KL-02 case. First it is very light, meaning that carrying it around is a breeze. The construction of the case with SECC Steel and aluminum is very solid meaning that the case is not likely to break easily. The KL-02 has plenty of expansion capability with the case having up to 9 5.25″ drive bays and a single 3.5″ FDD bay. Negatives of the case include the lack of a motherboard tray, the installation of a long video card interfering with the drives and the fact that SilverStone cases are a mildly pricy at $100 USD for this case at most retail or e-tailors. Overall though, it is a good, solid case that is highly available on the market.

We’re writing to let you all know that we have just posted a new article at HotHardware in which we evaluate the features and performance of ASUS’ AMD 780G-based M3A78-EMH HDMI motherboard. The M3A78-EMH HDMI defies ASUS’ usual habit of packing in every add-on available at a premium price by sticking to the basics, consequently driving down the price of this motherboard. Head on over to the site and check it out…

Title: Kingwin Heat-Pipe Direct Touch CPU Coolers Review @ Virtual-Hideout
Review link: http://www.virtual-hideout.net/reviews/Kingwin_HDT_Coolers/index.shtml

Quote: “The overall designs for the H.D.T. coolers are great. The install on the RVT-12025D model was easier than the RVT-12025. This was due to a tight clearance issue with my fingers pushing down on the pins for the Intel install. On a positive note, the motherboard removal was not necessary, and that is another major plus in my book for CPU cooler installs. With that said, both H.D.T coolers performed well, both are damn near silent, and the option of either a tower or low profile unit is another plus.”

Title: In Win B2 Stealth Bomber Case Review @ High Tech Reviews
Quote: In Win’s newest case has a number of features that make this
case worthy of a first time look. For example when was the last time
you had a case that featured a motorized canopy that covers the front
drive bays. Best of all the case is designed after the B2 Stealth
Bomber and the design is done without the going to point of being
tacky. So come on by and have a look at this case and see if it makes
it off the ground.

Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core PSP Review
Date: 04-03-2007 Written By Vlad MihaiescuWith the release of Crisis Core, Square Enix hoped to for the lack of better words, kill two birds with one stone. For the most part, every fan of FF VII will want to check out this prequel, and every new fan of the series will want to see final outcome reveal in the original. Either or, their fan base increase. Honestly, I will be shocked if FFVII is not re-released by popular demand and graphically updated. As for Crisis Core, it really is not a bad Final Fantasy at all, but never the less it isn’t Final Fantasy VII either.

This offering from Cooler Master doesn’t break the bank and looks pretty swank to boot.
“Cooler Master has been known for making good quality cases, and the CM690 is not one to break that reputation. The CM690 is a great looking case. The overall style of the case is clean and subtle, with just enough chrome accents. The mesh front and top panels not only look classy but allow for better cooling. Size wise the case was near perfect, storing enough drives to meet my needs as well as leave some room for upgrades. The inside of the case was roomy and easy to work with, and all of the edges were nicely rolled over.”

OCIA.net has posted their review of the CSX Wraith Tower Case. Below is a direct quote from the review:
“Regarding the actual paint job, since each CSX case is air-brushed by hand by a different artist, there are no two cases in the world that are 100% identical. If you are the type that likes a truly unique product, you will certainly find that here.“

Title: Maxtor Shared Storage II 1TB @ Techgage
Link: http://techgage.com/article/maxtor_shared_storage_ii_1tb/
Quote: We were so impressed with the Central Axis upgrade for the Shared Storage II at CES that we thought we’d check out the NAS itself prior to the official launch of that software. With 1TB of storage, will the SSII warrant a purchase, with it’s higher price point?

NEW CONTENT (Storage) - Hitachi Travelstar 5K250 2.5” Hard Drive
QUOTE: “Hitachi has really come through in the hard disk market since taking over the department from IBM. So far the Hitachi drives have been top notch with no real reason to discredit them. Hitachi’s current range of drives are extremely impressive.
On the design side there is nothing spectacular about the drive, it’s light in weight and looks well constructed. On the top of the drive there is a identification label with info on the drive including model numbers, spindle speed and capacity which is 250GB for this model we were sent.”

Diamond has been so kind and sent us one of its new Diamond Radeon HD 3870 1GB cards. Just the fact that it sports 1GB RAM instead of the regular 512MB makes it stand out, but what really caught our attention was the fact that it has a 512-bit memory bus instead of the reference 256-bit. The relatively narrow bus of most RV670 and G92 cards is a common complaint among many, whether it’s justified or not is something we will look at here today. We’ve updated our recently published roundup with the just released Diamond HD 3870 1GB and Diamond Radeon HD 512MB.

Quote:
“But, Diamond has managed to squeeze in 1GB memory, which no other HD 3870 has, but then we haven’t even touched the biggest news yet; the 512-bit memory bus. The 1GB version has eight 64-bit memory chips, and for that to work you need a 512-bit bus.”

Intel Xeon X3320 45nm Quad Core Overclocking Test
“The Xeon X3320 is the server version of the desktop Q9300 Quad Core processor, the new 45nm process makes this a cool running CPU. In this quick overclocking test we see if the X3320 which comes with stock 2.5Ghz clocks is any good at overclocking. ”

NEW CONTENT (Motherboards) - HuperLab and GIGABYTE - Joint Venture
QUOTE: “GIGABYTE has been working with a company in Taiwan known as Huper Laboratories for well over a year now to develop a pair of motherboards specifically designed to work with HuperLab’s HuperVision surveillance software. You might wonder why you’d need a special motherboard for this, and so did we. GIGABYTE invited us to come along to HuperLab to see what the two have been working on.
HuperLab might not be a company that most people are familiar with, and neither were we before this encounter. The reason is quite simply that HuperLab doesn’t sell its products in retail. The company is very much specialized in making digital security surveillance (DSS) products and it’s not something you’d pick up as a general consumer. However, you might have used one of their products without even knowing about it, or even more likely, you could’ve been recorded by some of their software and hardware products, as they’re quite common in several countries around the world.”
