Genius G-Pen F610 Drawing Tablet Review @ DragonSteelMods

January 22nd, 2008 by Kristofer

Although typing on a keyboard is inherent to the computing experience, sometimes you may want to push the keyboard away and pick up a pen to write or draw using your computer. Genius has a slew of new Pen/Tablets available and today we will look at the G-Pen F610. This tablet features a 6”x10” working area and includes twenty nine programmable Hot Key buttons.

So if you have a desire to create some computer generated art, then this is definitely the right tool for the job. Some people are so talented with these tablets and programs such as Photoshop, they can create photorealistic pictures. One such artist is Bert Monroy, check out his work, if you get a chance.

The beauty of a graphics tablet is that it lets you control your cursor in a totally different way than a mouse, but in a way that is still natural for most people. Combined with programs such as Adobe Photoshop or GIMP, you can truly unleash your inner artist.

“The software is quite flexible regarding the options it has and you
have a wide range of features you can use to protect your computer. I
was very impressed by the full version and I had absolutely no problem
in handling it. The Background Guard option is most useful as it
alerts you of potential and real risks that are knocking at your
computer’s ports.”

CompUSA Refuses To Accept Cash

Posted: 21 Jan 2008 04:17 PM CST

A CompUSA cashier summoned her manager and a security guard when Bud tried to pay for his purchases with cash. The promise of 40% discounts drew Bud to the Boisie, Idaho store, but he settled for a 10% discount on an iMac and several accessories.

I start counting out hundred dollar bills and the clerk goes nuts! “Sir, we don’t accept cash for this kind of purchase! You must use a credit card!” she says at the top of her lungs. (I see her also hit a button on the phone at the same time.)

Instantly a man shows up, clearly the manager from his nametag and the rent-a-cop security guy. Both tell me the same thing, “NO CASH! You have to pay with a credit card!”

Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2008 - Part 1 @ Virtual-Hideout

Title: Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2008 - Part 1 @ Virtual-Hideout

Article link: http://www.virtual-hideout.net/articles/CES_2008_Part1/index.shtml
Quote: “Every year, North America hosts the largest Consumer Electronics Show (CES) which is where any and everyone can go to debut their newest or best products. If you can think of any technical gizmo or gadget, chances are that it’s already there. This year’s event didn’t quite have the amount of computer components as last year, but there was still plenty and High Definition was all the rave. Of course, there were still endless rows of iPod and music player stations. As a matter of fact, there were more of those than High Definition Televisions. I’m not sure we need more docking stations, but HD TVs advancements are always a good thing. The more new products that come out, the quicker prices drop on the current products.”

Article Url: http://www.tweaknews.net/reviews/thermaltake_toughpower_q-fan_650watt_power_supply/

Article Snippet:

“With four independent 12V rails providing stable power, it is a fine choice for an overclocked rig. The 140mm Qfan does it job as well with its nearly silent operation even when under heavy load. In fact, this is the quietest PSU I’ve worked with that wasn’t fanless.”

Title: Thermaltake BigWater 760i @ Techgage

Link: http://techgage.com/article/thermaltake_bigwater_760i/

Quote: If you thought about liquid-cooling your PC, but were put off by the complexity of a typical installation, Thermaltake’s BigWater 760i may be the solution for you. The drive-bay mounting system is a novel solution, but can it provide enough of an advantage over air-cooling to make it worthwhile?

January 22nd, 2008 by Kristofer

NEW CONTENT (Motherboards) - MSI X48 Platinum Motherboard

QUOTE: “We have already tested the X48 chipset in its DDR2 variant (that’s right, because it’s a direct descendant of the X38 it keeps the dual mode memory controller); the DDR2 version has already managed to produce some better scores than the X38 DDR2 thanks to its increased FSB support. Today we are moving onto X48 in DDR3 form.

MSI has graciously provided us with their new X48 Platinum motherboard which is designed to be an ultra overclockable and feature-rich model. How it stacks up is the subject of today’s review.”

Quote: Today we take a look at a fully loaded workstation card from Asus. We recieved a sample of their P5K64WS that has HDMI, DDR3, etc etc features that we are going to take a closer look at. We decided to run some tests vs the P5K3 Deluxe motherboard that we reviewed in the past, we had some great luck with performance and overclocking when it came to that board and we don’t expect anything less from this board.
