“Ocean’s Thirteen starts off where Ocean’s Eleven seemingly left off. We will, for the time being, briefly forget about the Ocean’s Twelve that took place in Europe, and was seemingly a virtual (and real) vacation for our merry group of thieves…”

Decision Made in Response to Strong Consumer Preference for Format

BURBANK, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–In response to consumer demand, Warner Bros. Entertainment will release its high-definition DVD titles exclusively in the Blu-ray disc format beginning later this year, it was announced today by Barry Meyer, Chairman & CEO, Warner Bros. and Kevin Tsujihara, President, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Group.

“Warner Bros.’ move to exclusively release in the Blu-ray disc format is a strategic decision focused on the long term and the most direct way to give consumers what they want,” said Meyer. “The window of opportunity for high-definition DVD could be missed if format confusion continues to linger. We believe that exclusively distributing in Blu-ray will further the potential for mass market success and ultimately benefit retailers, producers, and most importantly, consumers.”

Warner Home Video will continue to release its titles in standard DVD format and Blu-ray. After a short window following their standard DVD and Blu-ray releases, all new titles will continue to be released in HD DVD until the end of May 2008.

“Warner Bros. has produced in both high-definition formats in an effort to provide consumer choice, foster mainstream adoption and drive down hardware prices,” said Jeff Bewkes, President and Chief Executive Officer, Time Warner Inc., the parent company of Warner Bros. Entertainment. “Today’s decision by Warner Bros. to distribute in a single format comes at the right time and is the best decision both for consumers and Time Warner.”

“A two-format landscape has led to consumer confusion and indifference toward high definition, which has kept the technology from reaching mass adoption and becoming the important revenue stream that it can be for the industry,” said Tsujihara. “Consumers have clearly chosen Blu-ray, and we believe that recognizing this preference is the right step in making this great home entertainment experience accessible to the widest possible audience. Warner Bros. has worked very closely with the Toshiba Corporation in promoting high definition media and we have enormous respect for their efforts. We look forward to working with them on other projects in the future.”

-This thing looks like a ‘weighted companion cube’ don’t it?

The Iona Cube is a fun new concept in low-cost Wi-Fi-enabled Internet radio.

In a departure from the traditional push button user interface, Cambridge Consultants’ intuitive new design allows the listener to personalize the Cube to play just their favorite radio stations or podcasts. By simply turning the Cube onto one its four sides, it will change to the desired radio station. The fifth side contains the speaker and the sixth side switches the radio on or off.

Based on Cambridge Consultants’ Iona low-cost platform technology (electronic bill of materials cost less than $15), the Cube uses a Wi-Fi connection to provide a choice of up to 10,000 stations from which listeners can customize the four sides.

LG VX10000 Voyager Full Review @ TheTechLounge

Quote:

“First, I must admit that I have a hard time not comparing the LG Voyager VX10000 to the iPhone. I’ve owned an iPhone for six months and am very happy with it, but to be blunt, the two phones shouldn’t be compared directly. The iPhone is more expensive, $100-200 more than the VX10000, and isn’t available on the Verizon network. The best feature of the phone is the Verizon V-Cast mobile TV. It’s fairly expensive at $15/mo, but having eight channels of TV at your disposal is pretty sweet, and I was usually able to find something to watch between ESPN, Comedy Central and NBC News. The biggest flaw with this phone (and it’s not the only phone with this problem) is that the touch screen is more of a gimmick than an honest to goodness feature. It’s as if it’s added on to compete with that other phone rather than be a useful feature.”
